I didn't watch the game myself but rather only read the reports - so I can congratulate Scotland on an excellent victory in what was reported to be a really good effort on their part; but I can't pretend that I'm commenting on what I saw with my own eyes. Therefore 'reported'.

Don't know why it's such a big deal

Oh, my bad, I misunderstood. I thought that France had actually won and you were making fun of BBC or something. I feel really stupid now.

No, don't worry - it's just that I don't like to pretend I've seen a sporting event if I haven't, mainly because it's so easy to get caught! (Did you see that pass in the 12th minute??? Yyyyessss...)

Veiras goal should have stood and in the first half Frances mauled Scotland. In the second half Scotland were very good. A great if slightly undeserved result.

Having Been at the Game sitting in line with the Six yard box both offsides were correct

But Scotland's desire to win was the deciding factor.

As for the Post-Match celebrations well lets just say this is the first time I have been able to post due to large (very large) amounts of Alcoholic beverages being consumed.

Scotland were just organized and were inferior IMHO. France dominated from the beginning to the end. The only thing they didn't do is finish the job and they paid for it.

Scotland sitting at top of that group with 9 points is a joke ... I hope they enjoy it while it lasts because they have been riding their luck. Then again, who knows? Maybe they do the unthinkable and qualify!!!

yes Scotland were lucky.
Vieras "goal" WAS offside,
but Trezeguet's(under new off-side rules)was touch and go.
I have to say being pretty biased that although France controlled the game terretorially, particularly in the first half: Scotland in my opinion created more clear cut goalscoring oportunities...

Watching France play football is pretty much like watching Arsenal.
Sure they look great on the ball. They pass,they move, they keep pocession, but they seem to forget that the object of the sport is to score more goals than the opposition.
Like Arsenal they want to pass the ball into the net and score the "perfect" goal. They don't seem to realise that entertainment aside, you have to put the ball over the goalline to win.
Scotland won ugly, but they still won.

Yes George Galloway is a slightly ridiculous figure. His performances on BB made me cringe. People in the public eye, particularly those who wish to rule us, should not behave in a way that is so bereft of dignity.
Certainly as a candidate for serious political office/leadership his career is dead...
But his powerful performance in front of the US congress make me believe that a man of his obvious strong will and intellect is not finished as an influence on our political times.
