There are those of us who believe that cannabis is a sacrament, that it is the spiritual bread which transubstantiates as the eucharist. |

So when you smoke a joint it literally turns into a chunk of Christ's flesh?
How does it stay lit? |

Wouldn't that prove his point if they are "sacrilegious"? |

Well, hang on a sec. I don't know how cannabis is somewhat legal in this case, but if you can, please point out clearly the Christian position on cannabis and how it relates to "Jesus's flesh" as implied to in the OP. Also, drugs alter and harm the body. The Prophet (pbuh) said that everything that intoxicates your body in such a way is khamr and all khamr is haram (forbidden).
I just said that the object looked like a hookah. I personally hate them. |

Sacrilegious just seems like the wrong word. |

The use of entheogens in religious practice is not as strange as we've been led to believe.
For instance, holy anointing oil, as described in the original Hebrew version of the recipe in Exodus (30:22-23), contained over six pounds of kaneh-bosem, a substance identified by respected etymologists, linguists, anthropologists, botanists and other researchers as cannabis, extracted into about six quarts of olive oil, along with a variety of other fragrant herbs. The ancient anointed ones were literally drenched in this potent mixture.
And hasn't anyone heard of the religious use of Peyote or Ayahuasca?

John, why harm your body on purpose? Isn't that akin to destroying your own flesh? Please explain to me, John, why you believe that sacrilegious is not the right word.

But here's the question: what do these things really do to you? I mean, do they have some sort of power that is associated with religious practice?
Please, enlighten me. |

Quote: a substance identified by respected etymologists, linguists, anthropologists, botanists and other researchers as cannabis,
That is pure speculation. |
