Too me its not.

I think N.O. should get the same exact help towns in the midwest like Xenia ohio for example, get/got when tornadoes wiped the town out or Falmouth Ky got when the floods washed the town away.

His whole state got the screwjob, but he doesn't help himself with those blundering racist remarks he makes. Somebody should explain to him that cameras and microphones are magic and make words and pictures fly all over the world......

He really is a dipstick.

I thought that was the standard for public office these days.

I believe the state of Lousiana with FEMA's assistance.

Hmm, is it publically or privately owned?

Just wondering.

Yeah, but just when the Bush loyalists are using any excuse to blame the victim, nagin has to shoot his mouth off in public and make everybody wonder if we all would have been better off if he had drowned......

It just amazes me sometimes what comes out of the mouths of some of these bozos.

The Superdome is owned by the State of Louisiana.

Hmm, interesting. I would understand the superdome being rebuilt if it was privately owned...I suppose it could be for regenerating the local economy or for a morale boost perhaps?

Everyone is too busy blaming George Bush and the evil white man for the loss of life and slow response, when everybody knows, or should know, that it's the local government (that means Nagan, who failed miserably) to oversee the saftey of the people. The federal government is there for support. It's a little thing called chain of command. As soon as the cameras stop picking and choosing what airs, and the people shut up just long enough for some progress to be made, then it will get done. Oh yeah, f*ck the retarded stadium, if they put that money into strengthening/rebuilding the damned levees, instead of building that f*cking stadium, New Orleans wouldn't have been so damaged. If you want to help Nawlins, shut up and grab a shovel, otherwise, just shut up, because this constant bickering and calling people racist isn't helping anybody.

That's it, support the idea of open argument. Your avatar suits your stance here...

If you'd read any of this thread, you'd realize there's a much larger element to be had...other than say, what's been projected over the waves. It's funny that neither side believes the media is portraying their standpoint effectively...

I have no idea why tax money ever pays for private enterprise (meaning the privately owned football team). If I owned a business, I couldn't expect the government to rebuild my building for free..esp if it was a multi-million dollar complex!

People forget that NO, regardless of levees, was built in a geographically sh!tty spot. You can't build cities below sea level and expect to keep them safe forever with technology. Nature always wins. It would make much more sense to locate the city in a safer elevation, or build the elevation, than it is to keep tons of water at bay with concrete walls. Is that just too common sense for people to grasp?

It brings in revenue. The Sugar Bowl alone brings in about $210 million in a weekend. If the state/local government gets 10%, that's $21 million. That's not counting all of the cascade effects. Also football games aren't the only events that use the Superdome. Big concerts occur there as well (I saw U2 there about 9 yrs ago).

Well, the older parts of the city (i.e. the French Quarter and the Garden district) were almost unscathed. The problem is that just too many people are living there (and they started to drain swamps that they should have left alone). However, geographically, it is a great spot. It is the highest land on the Mississippi river closest to the Gulf of Mexico. That is why it was initially settled. The city is located where it is located for a reason--it is essentially a port city (one of the 3 biggest ports in the U.S., IIRC).

The only focus is on who's to blame, not how to fix it. If you weren't so busy staring at my avatar, you would have gotten that.

:bang:

My god man...

There are other people in this thread that present good reasons for why such a Dome should be rebuilt. That was my point...

I was using your avatar to represent your bias through allocating most of the blame on the local government. The entire state was hit...NO flooded...and you really think the local government can handle the entire situation devoid of Federal assistance? I rest the blame on everybody...

Planning was poor, communication horrid, and precautionary methods obsolete. Excuse me while I argue for the rebuilding of the Superdome.
