This is an article by the International Herald Tribune about the
sad state of Indias most basic facilities. India is trying to be an
economic superpower in the 21st century while raw sewage
to the tune of 950 million gallons, flows in a river through downtown Delhi......every day.
Interesting article if you can stomach it.....:-)

| Interesting artice yes, but hardly another thing that america needs to get in the middle of. Let India clean up its own sewers and s***. :lol: :lol: |

| They need to put a minimum wage on those funny sounding tech support people and then tax half of it away from them. Either way, the tech support guy gets more $$$$$ |

| With their population levels is this really surprising??? They should do what the Chinese do....have a one child only policy. |

That may be an idea, but Indian culture and religion are very complex and implementing such a measure with an illeteracy rate of close to 40% would be presently impractical at best.
My concern is with the planners of civil infrastructure. These huge cities have been growing at an unprededented rate over the past 15 years, yet government at all levels can't build the most basic services. Open sewers running through major cities is hardly a picture of economic success India would like us to believe. |
