For those of you who have seen the anime, Dragonball Z, created by Japanese company, Toei Animation, Mr. Popo is a character on the show.

Ferris State University has opened up a "Jim Crow" museum of racist memorabilia. Why exactly anyone but a racist would collect racist memorabilia is beyond me. I mean, I've heard of Neonazis collecting World War II memorabilia, but Liberals?

On the wannabe museum's website, images of Mr. Popo are claimed to be modern images of black caricature, along with a detailed article claiming that we are living in a modern Jim Crow era.









Two important facts:

#1. Mr. Popo's skin is black, not brown.
#2. Mr. Popo is a DJINN, not even a human being.

Assuming characters which look racist are automatically racial stereotypes, another character, King Kai, appears to resemble an Asian stereotype.



Are we to believe that Japanese artists are anti-Asian racists?

Also included in the collection is the Pokemon, Jynx.

But wait, again, by that same standard, the Pokemon, Kadabra, is an anti-Asian stereotype:



Please note the YELLOW skin and slanted eyes. Man, the Pokemon creators must sure hate Asian people.

But wait, it gets better. I came across an article called, "N***** and Caricatures."

The article cites the dictionary for the definition of the n-word as a scholarly source. It also cites the song, "Crooked Ass N****" by Tupac Shakur.

And so, I decided to email the university.

I am a black man and am deeply offended by the following website:

It contains exactly 139 references to the N-word. So far, I have tried to find any website on the internet including racists' websites which contain that many variations of the N-word (and I have searched quite extensively), but have found nothing. I believe your website contains the N-word more times than any page on the internet.

It is extremely doubtful that whoever composed that website was black. For instance, it claims "zup ****" is a popular term for hello, but the proper term is "sup ****," with an S, not a Z. A simple Google search confirms this.

And so, I would appreciate the following:

#1. The name and contact info of the white person who composed the web page.
#2. A formal public apology from the person who composed the web page and the university.

I'm somewhat wealthy and your offensive website greatly influenced me to go to another school.
Hopefully, I'll receive a reply.

I think Nathyn just wants to be "stimulating." The Jim Crow Museum at Ferris State, however, has been up for years.

We were meeting with the reps of very well known company, Yamaha. We were all white except for Rick a well known studio bass guitar player on many albums, who is black, and the reps were all from Japan. They walked down the line introducing themselves and shaking our hands except when they came to Rick, they snubbed him. This was not in the 60s, it was in the mid 80s. I could see in his eyes how much this hurt him, he grew up with U.S. racism, but I don't think he was expecting to be broadsided from abroad. After that when we would speak about the incident, people would say they are like that in Japan, very racist. I refuse to get into slamming a whole race or country over the actions a few individuals, because then you are really just doing basically the same thing you are condemning, but i do remember it when ever i see that brand name. It is not possible that they are all racists and not even plausible that most of them would be. If it is wide spread there, I would hope they are taking measures to correct the problem.

The Nazis displayed "degenerate art" in museums. It was intended to be a reminder of the bad old days of immorality etc, so that the German people would never sink back into pictures of naked women, or (shudder) abstract art. I imagine there are similar motivations at work here.

I didn't research any of it. I used to watch DBZ when I was younger.

I just noticed that i never even wrote the main point for me telling that story, i guess when i tell a story, it makes me forget the point sometimes.

I was going to say glad to see you wrote them to express your concerns, we don't do that enough. IMO it has no place, studying that history is important but no need to make a museum which seems very strange, and the history should be accurate.

Back when that happened with the reps snubbing Rick because he is black, we weren't into taking a forceful stand like we should have, we just talked about it. If it happened today, i think we would have called them and told them what happened and said "hey you know what, you guys are rude ********, come and get your equipment we don't want it." But i think what you have there, a request for an apology is even better.

a side note: Don't you think the fox is made to look cool where the other characters are made to look, well not so cool?
