http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/5393964.stm

A veteran reporter, who supposedly has more access to Bush policy makers than other reporters claims that the levels of violence in Iraq are being hidden by the Bush administration.

This comes as no surprise, in most conflicts of this type the levels of violence of the fighting is generally hidden from the public back home. However in this case, considering the Whitehouse's failures in all aspects of the WOT, this should be acknowledged by the American voting public and acted on in the polling booths.

Quote: The insurgents know what they're doing, they know the level of violence and how effective they are - Bob Woodward

Of course they know what they're doing! They've been doing it for decades if not millennia’s. The USA needs to understand that being the country with the most advanced military equipment does not make them the most effective in war.

Bush obviously realizes now that invading Iraq was a huge error and he is probably trying to figure out a credible sounding exit strategy before the 2008 elections. Damage limitation exercise is the corect term I believe.

If they had known how things in Iraq would turn out back in January 2003 they would have cancelled the invasion....no doubt about it.

I think Bush and his cohorts really thought Iraq would be a walk in and walk out job for the US military if my memories of his rhetoric prior to the invasion serve me well. They had this utopian vision about all those ME dictatorships falling like dominos and repeating the Easten European series of velvet revolutions in 1989. They obviously didn`t understand the ME at all.

They probably meant well but they messed up by going into Iraq.

I really wish this hadn't coincided with the release of his book...

*Cringe* :-|

Now there's a personal financial motive involved...I'm not making any implications of my own just yet. Just pointing out a very imminent argument...

Your sub-quote isn't an actual quote is it? When I see the actual quote in Woodwards book that you are subscribing to him we'll debate it. Until then you are, as are too many on this forum as far as I'm concerned, attempting to influence peoples opinions based on unproven, unsourced, misrepresentations of facts based on what someone said to someone "at least that's what I thought they said/meant- better yet what I hope they said/meant". It's pretty pathethic don't you think? When trying to debate something using that sort of non-logic and a "lets hope know one really wants the real facts" approach I have one question for you: how lame is that?
