So, let's start this out with a story. I was watching something on TLC I think it was, and it was about surgery in some way. Anyway, there's this guy, and he wants to be a woman. So, they do some surgery to his face, and they give him woman-like hair. They also give him breasts. It did a before and after of his (her) chest, and of course it showed his chest as a man on the left, and his breasts as a woman on the right. What was hilarious about this? They blurred out the nipples on the picture to the right.
So you cram some plastic underneath the skin, and that makes it inappropriate for the public to see? Give me a break.
There's the story, and I think most people can see why it is somewhat rediculous. Since that's out of the way, I want to blame this entire thing on religion. Who said that the human body was something to be "blurred out." Does the bible say something about it? I've read parts of the bible, and I don't remember the part where it says, "men should never see breasts." Does it say anything remotely close to this? I don't know, maybe someone can enlighten me.
It's not just breasts, either. It's cussing. Where in the bible does it say "freaking" is better than "f***ing" or "darn" is better than "damn"?
You get the point. It's not in the bible. It's something that some guy probably made up a long time ago, and they just stuck with it. For all the bitching about how the "religious right" runs this country, why isn't there any bitching about the effect by "religion" on what we are and aren't allowed to see on TV? |

Well, you raise an interesting question (and I'm with ya on the nipple-thing). When did it become okay on USA Network and etc. to be blasphemous and say "J**** C****" and "G**dammit" and etc., but it's NOT okay to say "f****"?
Me, I have no problem with the language "pioneered" by "NYPD Blue," but I am always stunned that blasphemy is okay while the f-word remains "hallowed," LOL. |

I don't have a problem with it either, but I wish people would stop making it such a big deal out of it. |
