Games are at $49.99 (the new Zelda will be available at the console's release), and legacy games (NES, SNES, and N64) are available for download for approx. $5-10 apiece, using "Wii Points" (I think it's like $20 for 2,000 points). Zelda will be able to use both the Wii Remote and the nunchuck:

So who's going to be buying the Wii? And for those who aren't, why not?

Also you can d/l genesis and turbo grafix games.

This is Nintendo's big comback. Why waste money on a 400 dollar system which does not have the greatest games ever made on it? Or a 600 dollar system?

Wii's where it's at.

Wii's where it's at. 250$ is kinda steep for what your getting. Only thing that could justify it is the ability to play all the other Nintendo games from the other systems. And 50$ a game is damn steep for what your getting.

Its the same price as the last gen console games were. How is it "damn steep"? Personally, i'm really looking forward to the release of the Wii. Zelda sounds great, but when is the new Mario coming out?

Well if you want to play the same old war games with uber-realistic graphics, then drop $600 for a PS3 and $80 for a game. I prefer some diversity in my games, though...some innovation...something the "spec wars" have destroyed. Some of the best games ever are STILL the old NES/Genesis/SNES games. Hell, I'd say Tetris is one of the most fun games of all time. Cool graphics are great, but the console makers are obsessed with them to the point that they just keep remaking the same old run-around-and-shoot games to see who gets more oo's and ahh's at the next E3. I encourage console makers to bring the spec wars to a complete stop and start making games that are actually interesting and fun. I think that is the precedent that Nintendo is setting with the Wii--innovation first, specs second. Which I applaud. Sony and Microsoft will of course emulate every innovation Nintendo makes, but it's too late for them to emulate the price tag.

The Wii will sell like crazy among college kids, one of the biggest markets for consoles. Retro games are in (since modern games have s*cked for the last few years thanks to the spec wars), and low price tags have always been in. The Wii is going to (hopefully) flip the gaming market on its head by reintroducing fun into gaming.

What happens is that games with today's graphics are so damned complicated to make--modelling is much more complex, shading is a bear, skinning must be perfect, etc.--that most of the effort and money has to be spent on the technical stuff rather than the game itself. Which is why all the games today are just cookie-cutter games...nobody has time to innovate anymore, they're too busy trying to learn the new lighting systems, programming new engines to keep up with the consoles, etc.

Anyway, I have to end my rant now...

New mario is coming 2007.

Also in 2007 comes Metroid and Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

Oh, and the system comes packaged with Wii Sports, which includes Tennis, Golf, Baseball, Bowling, and Boxing. That explains why it's 250 instead of 200.

I bet some customers wished it was cheaper and not bundled, but Nintendo is trying to reach out to new markets, so it's part of their market strategy.

Either way, I'll probably get it.

I'm definitely buying one and probably no other console.

-The Xbox 360 has not had any good releases, no games, no reason to buy the console.

-The PS3 can't even give developers test boxes fast enough and many developers are backing out, not only that but the releases I have seen were lame. Again no games, no reason to buy it.

The Wii defintely has a chance to bring Nintendo back from the grave as they have focused on FUN and ENJOYMENT. All I have to say is NES. Plus you don't have to run out and buy an HDTV to utilize it, the games and downloads have appealing prices. The Xbox and PS3 focused on graphics instead of out of the box thinking and those consoles also require all kinds of goofy expensive crap to fully utilize it. The game titles are simply not there and the ones that are there are not even using the consoles to full specs, so what's the point.

If I want to play FPS using good graphics my PC is what that is for. For everything else the Wii will be good enough, this console is suppose to be aimed at an older crowd with much more game titles and less kiddy garbage. Personally if I see another WW2 shooter or aliens come to invade the word game I'm going to puke. It's time to move on to something not stale.

The Wii has built in Wifi so enjoy spending $80 to get the adapter for the Xbox 360.

Oh, I've still got mine and everyone one I know who thought they were cool trading in theirs to get the 360 early wish they hadn't. Another genius move by Microsoft to totally FUBAR the backwards compatibility and then not have any good games for the 360, rendering the console worthless.

Not me.

1. it's wholly inferior, technology-wise
2. no HDTV support (I mean, come on; the original Xbox has HDTV support)
3. the barrage of 2-year-old oriented titles
4. the nearly complete lack of adult-oriented titles
5. the fact that they're spending money on marketing to fool people into buying on "innovation" that boils down to a new controller, rather than actually making a system that's worth a damn

I'm sure there are more, but that should do.
