Do you think they have their place as a divination aid? Yes, no, and why?
I will be growing salvia divinorum pretty soon for personal use, and wondering what other pagan's thoughts are about this legal herb and/or other illegal and legal substances.
I think hallucinogens may have their place, I believe "hallucinations" to be a critical part in some types of clairvoyance/audience. Sensory deprevation causes auditory and visual hallucinations in test subjects, I think this is the ideal state of mind, (this is why people are supposed to meditate in a quiet place, comfortable and with their eyes closed, and why I try to become as sensory deprived as possible during divinatory meditation, it will help to block out the worldly things and let your thoughts, and sometimes the thoughts of others, to come to the forefront.), Hallucinogens can emulate this effect, So as long as people aren't being reliant on drug use, I can't see it as a bad thing. |

I have used salvia and it didn't do all that much for me, althoguh in a ritual situation it might have been more effective. I have used peyote and mushrooms in a ritual way and had excellent experiences with both. Although I certainly think there are dangers from drugs i also think they can be useful spiritual tools. |

| I have no experience with hallucinogens, but I've been wanting to pick up salvia and the only reason I won't use psillocybin is the legal concerns. |

Ordering Salvia online is really freaking expensive though, which is why I am going to grow it instead, besides, then it's better, it's yours, you grew it, it's more personal.
As for salvia not doing much, from what I have read and heard everybody reacts to it in different ways, some people will get a crazy experience while another might not feel much on the same dose, also different salvia plants have widely varying potencies. |
