I just saw it recently. Thanks for keeping the 1911 in our minds and hands, and initiating the 10mm into existance.

You will be missed for certain.

American Patriot, true hero and most of all a United States Marine.

My hat is off and I salute you......RIP great warrior and as my people say

Sounded like a principled fellow. He really knew his stuff (finally I know where Wolverines hoplophobia thingy was invented).

I especially like his thoughts about hunting ...
Quote:
"... I'll choose the gorilla. ... If you threaten his group he will charge, and a charging gorilla is a fearful spectacle. To stand your ground with a handgun and flatten him at 15 feet is man's work."

Sounds amazing. Just a pity there arn't many of them left, I'd have loved to have shot a few.

The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles.

A more succinct rationale for the right to keep and bear arms I have not heard.

Rule No. 1: All guns are always loaded. (The beginning of my understanding of what discipline meant).

Cooper was a great man. I loved his column in Guns and Ammo, and usually chose it to be the first part of the magazine I read.

I thought i would chime back in and give you guys a few quotable quotes from the Guru

Quote: One cannot legislate the maniacs off the street... these maniacs can only be shut down by an armed citizenry. Indeed bad things can happen in nations where the citizenry is armed, but not as bad as those which seem to be threatening our disarmed citizenry in this country at this time.

Quote: Owning a handgun doesn't make you armed any more than owning a guitar makes you a musician.

Quote: Remember the first rule of gunfighting... "have a gun."

Quote: The police cannot protect the citizen at this stage of our development, and they cannot even protect themselves in many cases. It is up to the private citizen to protect himself and his family, and this is not only acceptable, but mandatory.

Quote: The will to survive is not as important as the will to prevail... the answer to criminal aggression is retaliation.

Quote: We continue to be exasperated by the view, apparently gaining momentum in certain circles, that armed robbery is okay as long as nobody gets hurt! The proper solution to armed robbery is a dead robber, on the scene.

gives me goose bumps just to read it

Thank You Bro!

That one is the best. I remember a quote from someone that actually gave that one even more credence. Can't remember the exact quote or who said it, but it amounted to a leader that had formerly identified his opposition as rabble, but when they armed they became armed Citizens.

I might put that one in my sig. That one is just too good to let go unnoticed.

I am picturing a warm salute, hello, and embrace from Hathcock as Cooper is met at the gate and shown his seat at the table for a round of no-limit eternity in heavens officers club.

We might say,"they just don't make them like that any more".I tend to disagree.Men like Jeff "the Guru" Cooper are the root that supports the vine. And that vine produces the likes of Thrilla or Leftneck or you reading this here.If we are the fruit of Coopers vine are we not the vintage of him.And will not our children be of like vintage?I like to think so.Thank God men like Col. Cooper are counted as American. We are the better for it.

R.I.P. sir
