| Living in NYC teaches you the daily lesson of why everyone shouldn't be walking around with a gun. |

Being a hunter my self I am a good shot, so I don't wory much when I carry my Glock with me. In case you don't know, NYC is not the safest city in the world, and that's where my office is.
The safest city in America is certainly not the safest city of the world Adam Baum.
New York City is a great example for the world to follow for curbing violent crimes, it's zero tolerance is talked about and copied here. Yet it's murder rate is still far from the murder rate level of other major cities in the rest of the western democratic world:
Quote: New York’s murder rate per person: 6.9 per 100,000, making it it the safest large city in America
London’s murder rate per person: 2.4 per 100,000
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-1424319,00.html
Glasgow, Scotland's second city is in fact the murder capital of Western Europe, it's murder rate is under 6 per 100,000!
This is what America has to know Adam Baum in order to understand that tough gun control laws all over the union are the only answer. The sad truth is that the lives of your office workers would be safer in the murder capital of Western Europe than in the safest large city of America.

Because, you know, guns, being the demonic little inanimate objects they are, compel their owners to kill.
There can be NO other reason for murder than the weapon used... right lucky?! I saw we get rid of them all!
What other reason could it be Airo? Are American people born evil murderers? I refuse to believe that they are.

:-D So wait, you don't believe some people are just born nasty?
Aside from Lucas, Dahlmer and the like, murderers usually have a motive for their killing. Hell, establishing the motive is one of cornerstones of homicide investigations. Are you saying that police officers around the world are really WRONG when they establish motive, and the ONLY reason the person killed was because their specific weapon of choice wispered in their ear at night?
Give me a break Lucky. Start holding people accountable for their actions. |

Never said I lived in NYC, just that my office is there. I live two-hours-on-plane away from NYC. All of us at my home town are very friendly gun owners. If you think just owning a gun makes you want to kill, that is not true. If you think all Americans like to kill, that is not ture. If you think guns are dangerous, than you better read a few history books. Humans are dangerous, if no human touches a gun, than that gun is not a problem. Guns are not the problem, humans are.
I think Larry The Cable Guy said it best: "Blaming a gun for killing someone is like blaming my pencil for making a spelling mistake." Or somewhere along those lines, I am not much of a fan of his. |

If not the guns, what is it then Adam Baum. Why do Americans kill one another at an insane rate when others don't?

Why does Scotland have such a high incident rate of knifings and muggings LL?
Since you have no guns what causes them to use knives and clubs? |

We are a violent society, more violent than most but one that generates less than half the murder rate of America, a lot more peaceful society than Scotland.
Our authorities are working very hard to curb violence in Scotland and to control the use of knives in the streets, there is no denial here.

You did not answer the question LL. What causes them to use knifes and clubs?
If people were armed they would have a chance at self defense..logically |

Anger. People tend to get angry very easily in America, and many other places as well. What better why to get even with someone then to take that person's life? Personaly I am never angry, so I really do not know. |

I wonder if there is any statistical data to show which country is more prone to anger. Now that would be one for the books   |
