But. I do use YouTube to decide whether or not I want to buy a particular CD. So in that effect, it does benefit the record companies.

I wonder how many actual artists object to these sorts of service? Note the recording companies, who themselves profit off of other people's work, claiming that "MTV built a multibillion-dollar company on our (music)."
When was this?
Technically, you aren't allowed to publish "their" music on a website. Even if you credit it to them.
How do you say retarded?
John Kerry.
How do you say cheap shot. :P
Sometimes I can't resist. Sorry. :-D I figured someone would say GWB sooner or later.
 Probably.

Tis sadly true, they'll stop at nothing. |

I think the recording industry needs to realize that the industry has changed and they need to change or die off.

Record companies are keen to avoid repeating the mistake they believe they made when Viacom's MTV was set up 25 years ago -- allowing their artists' music to be aired for free.
Morris in his remarks to investors Tuesday said MTV "built a multibillion-dollar company on our (music) ... for virtually nothing. We learned a hard lesson."

I call bulls**t. MTV is where they generate their money. MTV pushes music, are they going to start charging radio stations too?I don't watch MTV but I am familiar with TRL and know that they have like 15 songs to choose from to be on the "top 10" or however many they have on a daily basis, same as the radio. waaa we are losing money, but we will figure it out, please invest in us still. The problem is they can't control this, and it's user generated and commented on. Where as on the radio and MTV they have total control. Payola Pay for Play |

record companies are the epitome of greedy, blood sucking, business men.
I'm not sure about that.
I think the words you used were too mild. |

I'm quite glad they're suing them why does Myspace/Youtube feel it is alright to steal the intellectual property of the artists? I don't think Myspace/Youtube created the music now did they? And this whole I want to hear the song before I buy the music is bull crap, most thieves(those who are involved with downloading music off the net free of charge) won't ever buy a cd or if they do its 1-2 max. WOW, no wonder why they're getting mad. Every year Album sales drop, because you believe it should be free. And please no stupid comments like copyright laws or patent laws, because you won't be happy with that because you don't want to change the laws you want to get something for nothing.
I'm actually appalled at all those who support stealing and to think you claim to be the defenders of the rights of property, how pathetic. You can't claim one thing and then vehemently support another... |

I might have time to respond to this if I wasn't so busy downloading music. |

Seems to me that it sounds like if MTV has to go down, then YouTube and Myspace have to go down with them. |
