How unprofessional. My wife, when she taught social studies, wouldn't even allow me to put political bumper stickers on either of our cars, to avoid an appearance of bias. I find that most leftist teachers are not nearly as ethical about such things, as most conservative teachers (based on my 8 yr teaching, and my subsequent 4 years as a teacher's husband).

Because of the nature of internet forums, i assume EVERYTHING is a joke unless otherwise stated. Is this a discussion site? Yes. But it's on the internet, first and foremost.

Besides, smilies don't help. Look at Lucky's posts, he includes smilies in every one but people still think he's being serious!

I wouldn't try and trip him or anything because he'd fail me then. :lol: Seriously, the guy's arguement is a joke. Everything he said can easily be refuted by a quick search in Google. What's worse is that he was telling all the student that what I said was bogus. He's pretty much using his influence as a teacher to try and make students believe his point of view. He's already gotten in trouble before with the adminastration over personal politics, and I could possibly get him fired for this if I reported it. :lol:

In many places it is impossible to fire teachers. They are protected by corrupt unions and bogus laws. Unless he touched you. Did he touch you?

It is very possible to fire teachers for reasons other than crime. It requires a principal that does his/her job, and documents negligence or incompetency or unethical behavior (which this is an example of). Also, in the case of a first through third year teacher, they can be fired for any or no reason at the end of the year.

depends on where you are at. Some schools it is easier, in some places it is virtually impossible. Especially the larger school districts. New York City school district is a classic example. If a teacher is completely incompetent they are just shuffled somewhere else.

It should be much much easier to get a teacher fired. There are just too many incompeteent ones.

It should be much much easier to get a teacher fired. There are just too many incompeteent ones.

In the current job market, we can't get rid of the incompetents. My wife is a principal trainee. She has sat in on many interviews. At least in our district, the number of qualified applicants is small. Her system can't replace all retiring/leaving teachers with semi-qualified ones, much less fully qualified teachers. If they got rid of incompetents, the problem would be that much worse. What we need to do instead, is make teaching a more attractive job. There is no way to weed out incompetence, if you don't have enough teachers in the unemployment pool.
