There was, after all, only a 0.13% greater likelihood that children who played violent video games would develop aggressive tendancies.

If you ask me, playing video games, violent or not, let me blow off steam easier when I'm mad. I've never gotten the urge to go out and shoot up a school full of people.

You're speaking here, Micfrankin, as the member of your young generation. And I respect your view. I just don't think older generations are as sanguine about video games' influence. Why? Because we see a more casual acceptance of injury and death (from those yet to experience the stinky reality first-hand) and a cheapening of human life as an unintended consequence.

So thanks for this post. Hope you're providing perspective for others older than you who are as worried about the state of the world as I am.
Seriously, we see the blood-and-guts virtual realities and are horrified, but my own kids are just as "Whatever!" as you are.

And you're also making a larger censorship point, for which I also thank you. Yes, demonstrably, lyrics have inspired mayhem among the few. But I suspect that those individuals were going to find an avenue one way or another. This is why, I hope, the SCOTUS has rendered every art decision so far on the side of the artists. Yes, rap about woman-abuse have inspired acts of abuse, and suicide lyrics have inspired suicides.

But surely, the perpetrators of crimes and of acts of self-destruction were already looking for a rationale.

Quote: I'm one of those who found the movie about assassinating President Bush to be insulting and in bad taste. It wasn't so much the fantasy about the assination that annoyed me; it was the rest of the plot, where Americans were shown as corrupt, stupid, paranoid, renecked bigots who leap to conclusions about a Syrian being responsible, then basically proceed to blow up half the planet

Thats the way 99% of the planet views you. Sorry!

I cannot wait for the game to come out. I hope you can hit him with a toffee hammer or nip in his office and tape a musical birthday card under his desk. Hoo hooo, torchure the terrorist president!

....or wipe his toothbrush bristles in pigeon crap.

Nah, I just think your President is a crook. If I met him I would punch him in the head. Same goes for Bin Laden and the worlds other terrorists.

And any second now, Jack Thompson will try to "protect" us from this so-called evil.

Let's make a videogame about killing Jack Thompson and violating his corpse. Video Games don't kill people, People kill people

While I am against this type of stuff...this type of video game. I must also agree with you that it is not the game that kills people it is people. The only thing that bothers me is just how many weakminded fools out there would actually consider this game and then attempt it. That is the scary part.

If 'christian' kids can murder New Yorkers at will in "Left Behind: Eternal Forces" - than I don't see why the big fuss over this game. 8:)

Nothing lame about it . It is an honest answer.. Wow!!! you have been labeld and after only 7 posts.... that has to be a record here. You have nothing else to say that is even worth considering. Have a nice day.

No Liwolf that isn't even close to the record. I've seen people labled with but a single post, and a few more completely banned as well, with a single post. But even that isn't a record. I've actually seen accounts banned before even a single post. One guy, Raydardy, made like 15 accounts back to back to back and they started banning them as soon as he made them. He eventually made accounts called Dr. Ban and Banny McBannerson and things like that. It was quite a sight.

But I wouldn't worry about the game.

I was being facetious (I think thats the correct word) . But yeah, I agree with you, there is a certain point that TV and video games (when it comes to Violence and Pornography) should not cross. There are always going to be those who would argue, "Who are you and I to decide who is mature enough to view such things?"...

I'm glad the general consensus isn't to censor it, but to choose to ignore it.

Socialist Europeans are the least of Americas problems. The whole of the arab world hates you. The majority of muslims hate Americans. Thats about 1.3 billion or something.

America is the least popular nation in the world nowadays. FACE FACTS!

Funny, because straight after 9/11 everyone supported you lot and loved ya.

Guess that was before you all went nuts and started invading and bombing countries and racked up a deathtoll many times that of 9/11.

Given my poor taste in gaming, I'll probably end up buying it.

Well, in the US, we have video games that involve killing terrorists. Therefore, it is not surprising that terrorists have video games that involve killing us.
