Anyone else draw the connection the this is bad for the United States? I mean really, both parties are fiercely opposed to the US, and they are helping each other make ammunition..
They talk about how today they only have thoughts, but united they will be able "to make these ideas reality with the aim of achieving justice and peace in the world." |

| Actually I'm surprised that when the 'axis of evil' had their little reunion in Cuba the other day that an American warplane didn't fly over and 'accidentally' drop a bunkerbuster!! |

Ah yes, the all powerful America. Fear nothing, for there is nothing to be feared. Sleep well, for nothing can harm you.
If Americans cannot see the danger, then so be it. Let them turn a blind eye, let them pretend nothing can hurt them. Let them dream they have nothing to worry about. All warnings fall on deaf ears, all promptings go unheeded.
I will fear for you America. I fear for your people, if only they could see. |

When some horrific tragedy happens such as a massive earthquake or tsunami, who is the first one to help and who helps the most? I say the next time something horrible happens to one of these countries we should just let them deal with it on their own, they are so much better than us anyway. |

I actually appreciate the sentiment of this post, because the concern seems genuine. So I ask you this, Erasmus... what would you have us do? We cannot stop the Venezuelan people from electing a communist; we cannot stop said communist from fraternizing with Castro (the whole Cuban embargo thing is stupid anyway, but hey...) or Iran or anyone else. We cannot stop any of our enemies from plotting to do us harm, and we will occasionally not be able to stop them from actually doing us harm (9/11, among dozens of other attacks over the past 30 years, is proof of that). My worst nightmare is that there will be one or more catastrophic nuclear attacks on a major American city. If that happens, half the world will cheer wildly, and the other half will shrug, secretly relieved that it wasn't one of their own cities.
People hate us. People want us dead. People want our country not to exist. We cannot simply fling ourselves down and cut our own wrists out of terror and panic. So what would you have us do? |

America must unify.
Never before has the need of unity been more dire. With most of the world against you allies are hard to find. Why would anyone want to be allies with a nation that does not trust itself? A nation that half the time does not agree with what it does. Do not blame your current situation only on your leaders. With a united people comes a unified government. I am not saying you must all become Democrats or Republicans. You must find equilibrium.
America has the potential for a perfect government, or as near perfect as humanly possible. Americans need to pass through their current state of conflict, and when they do they will become the superpower the world needs.
You are not alone. There are those in the world who are glad that the United States of America exists. My own country would not be what it is without America, and there are many other countries that are grateful for the constant aid America sends. "Americans are the most generous people, their generosity knows no end."
If you would only rally yourselves, you would be surprised to see how many nations are your allies, how many nations want to be your allies. |

This is an incredibly wise post. A bit ideologically utopian, in my opinion... I don't want my country to become the superpower the world needs, because I'm sick of the responsibility and the target on my back that being such a power entails... but the main thrust of your message is absolutely accurate:
America must unify.
America is a country divided, and I am old enough to have watched, horror-struck and dumfounded, as it happened. We used to be Americans first, and black, white, Asian, Hispanic, Republicans and Democrats second. Now the fact that we share a country seems more like an afterthought as we berate ourselves with the most virulent hate-speech... "liberals are traitors who hate America!"... "Republicans are fascist neo-cons trying to turn America into a Christian theocracy"... books, talk shows and pundits hurling the most vile epithets and accusations are the ones getting the biggest share of ratings. No wonder the world is scared to death. If we hate each other other that much, how can we possibly be expected to like anyone else?
I must think about this. Thank you, Erasmus, for your enlighening perspective. |

Wow. Thank you for giving a **** about us. Sometimes I feel that everyone around the world hates us, but reading your post gives me comfort. I'm glad we have people like you on the other side of the globe. I wouldn't mind having India take our place, just as long as your running the government. It's time for the U.S. to rest and give it's chair to another nation. |

| If there was anyone doubting whether the Iranian President Ahmadinazijehad was an evil fellow, him hanging around with snakes like Chavez should put that to rest. |

Well spoken. As Americans we do feel that everyone is out to get us, partially out of arrogance, but primarily because it is true. So many nations loathe us, and it often feels as if we can't win. When we give aid we're told not to meddle, when we refuse to give aid we become self centered egotists bent on world destruction.
As you said, America needs to unite itself. Then maybe we can be come the unifying force in our world. |

| I don't think the world hates us, it is the leftist commie news orgs around the world that hate us. Some people are forgetting this leftist diatribe of theirs didn't start on 911, when I was in Europe, the hatred for the U.S. was confined to just a few marxist brainwashed college kids. Other college kids, highschool kids, and most of the adults i met were not into hate, and expressed quite the opposite sentiment of the U.S. that is presented in the lefty press. |

When Katrina hit your cities, more than 100 nations sent help or offered to help. Nearly 5 billion worth of oil and gasoline/petrol, nearly $800 million worth of cash, tens of millions of dollars worth of food, tens of millions of dollars worth of medicines, tens of millions of dollars woth of equipment, tens of millions of dollars worth of help throgh transport and divers, rescuers, specialists, doctors. I'd say the world offered to help the US with at least $6 billion dollars, after Katrina:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_response_to_Hurricane_Katrina
After 9/11, I believe at least 70 nations wanted to help, including Oman, Kuwait, Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. |

If the rest of the world hates us so bad, why do so many people want to come here and live the American dream?
European socialist elitists can have their problems. Their economies are struggling with high unemployment and inflation. Islamic radicals can hate us all they want, but we also have partners in the ME as well, and those just happen to be the more stable governments. Saudi Arabia, Egypt and UAE are our allies. Much of the world does not hate us. |

I find it funny. I don't see how catholic country will be tolerated by the radical Islamic nation of iran. Eventually they will start fighting, most likely over oil production or something else. |
