The Pope and the Muslim fundamentalists are the same in many ways: They do nothing useful in this world and are always creating divisions and trying to repress people.

The pope didn't apologise for making the remarks. He apologised for the offence they might have caused. I fail to see the moral cowardice in this unless you're stating that he intended to cause offence.

Whether The Pope apologised for the remark or the percieved offence is immaterial. NO ONE no matter there position, rank or status should have to apologise to those who misunderstand what they have said. All of these maniacs should have first read what was said before they started beating their breast and burning effigies. As to the offence caused- what offence was caused?

Yet again I have to state he was quoting another's words.

It seems to me that this Byzantine Emperor and his Muslim counter-part had the right idea. Intellectual discussion is a far superior medium of combat than war/and or terrorism. Fundamentally Christian/Muslim rivalry is one of ideaology. Attitudes and ideas are not changed by confict-they are hardened by it. Those who cannot see this will be left behind in the middle-ages as the rest of the world progresses.

PS - by the way THE POPE MUST DIE is a brilliant movie.
