|
|
Quote: Anyone who judges the IDF of 2006 by the standards of 1948, 1967, or 1973 insults the IDF, Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Dan Halutz said Friday in response to harsh criticism leveled at him by some 25 former generals during a meeting on Friday, Army Radio reported.
The generals intended to present Halutz with an ultimatum - either he appoints them as members of an internal military commission of inquiry or they will publicly call for his resignation.
General Yanush Ben-Gal (res.) said that Halutz had "committed the sin of arrogance when he stated that 'a shepherd doesn't have to be a sheep in order to lead the herd." According to Ben-Gal, a chief of staff from the air force can't command the IDF, which is comprised mainly of infantry, artillery, and armored forces.
Friday's meeting was the second such that Halutz has held with the former members of the top brass. The point of the meeting, officers close to Halutz said, was to hear the generals' ideas and thoughts.
Maj.-Gen. (res.) Uri Saguy, a former head of Military Intelligence and one of the most vocal critics since the war ended, said Thursday personnel changes were needed within the defense and political establishments in Israel.
"There was a bad mix between the diplomatic and military echelons," he said.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Amir Peretz met with OC Northern Command Maj.-Gen. Udi Adam on Thursday, a day after the general announced his resignation from the IDF.
According to sources close to Peretz, Adam said during the meeting that he did not intend to retract his decision and asked that his replacement be found as soon as possible.
Ouch, sounds like someone is getting a spanking? |

I've been saying it for a very long time on this forum, the I.D.F have been listening and believing there own hype.
The expression of, "your only has good has your last fight" and "you can only beat what is put in front of you", is especially applicable to Israel. From a British perspective, I have always been taught and led to believe, that the Jews never really won the wars, the Arabs lost them. Except for 73. The fact is that the Arab armies, ie the political leadership and command leaders, were crap and inept, compared to there Jewish counterparts.
Minus nuclear bombs, Israel used in Lebanon, there full arsenal, deemed necessary to get the job done and failed.
Yes undoubtedly Israel would have won the war, just out of attrition, due to overwhelming numbers of soldiers and vastly superior weapons. The fact that with a month of fighting, by military standards, the IDF didn't put a serious dent into Hezbollah capabilities. This showed the 2006 I.D.F was useless, in comparison to there undefeated formers. If I was a former Israel General, I would have been alarmed at there performance. Starting from the top decision makers. Right down to the performance of the reservist core, who to be quite frank, many of them turned up in a state, not fitting to be called IDF soldiers. Compared to the reputation earned by earlier Jewish fighters (48-73) the 2006 lot, exposed the myth of the IDF's invincibility and they will never live it down. |

What does this have to do with Israeli General scolding another?

Sorry can you link me to these two points - furthermore, you are singling out someone that has simply posted a link to an article from an Israeli source & commented "Ouch, sounds like someone is getting a spanking?".
But once again, can you prove me a liar, a hypocrite?
If not, would you kindly STFU, please.
BTW, why are you still stalking me - singling me out for no apparent reason? are you obsessed with me? |

that could mean many things-but among them is an action against israel itself like hez. for example. or even to start a war. |

Okay fine - But what does that have to do with me being a liar & a hypocrite?
I will even restate myself; I support a Lebanese resistance towards Israeli aggression.
How does that make me a liar & a hypocrite?
Waiting for a reasonable response.....
Edit: Furthermore, you have been following me around, attacking me on a personal level, having nothing to do with the subject at hand, in at least three instances, which seems like stalking type behaviour.
I'm not offended, and i could really care less, but I'm just curious why you are so fascinated in not attacking my arguments, but my person instead? |

| I am not aware of his tactical or strategic decisions, but I suspect this has it's motivation at least partially rooted in politics. |
