Anybody can be stupid no matter what age. Anybody can be compitent no matter what age. If we banned stupid people from voting, oh yea I remember , this was banned

all 13 year olds are stupid(genetic weirdos who turn out to be geniuses are theo nly exceptions). along with their stupidity they lack common sense, social skills, life skills.

The imposition of arbitrary numbers and values upon society is a pervasive problem. Blanket statements regarding the stupidity of a particular group of individuals as a basis for imposition of your own arbitrary values is not acceptable.

Why do you feel the need to feel validated by someone calling you an adult?

While it's nice to be able to do whatever you want, you can't always do what you want. Make sense? The trappings of adulthood often take away from the fun of being able to drink, smoke and have sex any time you want. :lol:

I mean - deep down, that's really what you want, right?

That's what I want and hell, I'm damn near 26! :lol:
But I don't think anything takes away from being able to have sex anytime you want. But yes, Adulthood does bring with it its own demons. The most notable difference is you slack off and fail as a kid, you get an F and maybe grounded. You slack off and fail as an adult, you sleep on the street and don't eat. :P

statement: you will understand when you are older

story: when in high school, everybody hates freshmen, those just entering, as a freshmen i wondered about this, as a sophmore i understood, when a freshmen asked me why everybody hates freshmen, i told him to just wait, he would soon understand, the next school year, very first day, at lunch, he sits down at the lunch table and says with a sigh "i hate ***** freshmen"
it only took him half a day to understand

is it odd that some are trying to get those under 20 recognized as "children"
stats from gun control groups will sometimes include those 24 and below in their numbers for "children killed by guns"

no, i just happen to be in highschool currently, and 13 year olds(freshmen) are the stupidest people i have ever seen. they aren't young enough for it be innocent naivity either so they have no excuse.

You say that there are exception in who can vote when it comes to people under age. Don't you think these people should vote? You just said so.

i never brought up voting once.

i said geniuses at young ages(in this case 13) aren't stupid and useless.

and to be honest, if you want to entrust this country to 13 year olds you should be shipped to gitmo for treason.

studies by the National American Human Study Foundation have proven that Adalescents 18 and below have different functions in the brain.The decision making section of a young person example 13 yr old has different connections and the thought process flows in a different direction than an adult 18 or over your develops until your 21. Thats why the american drinking age is 21 .

People also used to burn you at the stake a long time ago. The point is we live in a more advanced society, which has concluded that 18 years old is a point in an individuals life when they have grown both physically and mentally capable of handling the responsiblities and struggles of today's America. To think a 13 year old can handle the responsibilities of an adult when they haven't even hit puberty yet is entirely hypocritical.

And Americans have full rights to citizenship at age 18(but should include everybody but Ill put that arguement to the side for a second). Government is just and impartial. If you ban alcohol you are going to need to bann it to all voters.
