You do realise that in Switzerland, every able bodied male or female in the military has an automatic rifle and 50 rounds of ammunition in their house, right?

Sure but do you know that the Swiss are not allowed to use this weapon except when ordered to do so Milo1047? In fact the Swiss are reforming their militia type of defence anyway.

Furthermore following a multiple murder of some politicians some years ago do you know that Switzerland has introduced a new set of gun control laws?

And to conclude guess what EU laws Switzerland is going to adopt?
The EU set of tough gun control laws.

But I told you there were one Milo1047, didn't you read my post?

Quote: 2001: Swiss gunman kills 14
A gunman has run amok in a central Switzerland government building, killing at least 14 people before turning the gun on himself.
Ten people were also injured - eight of them critically - in the country's worst mass killing.

Friedrich Leibacher entered the regional parliament building in Zug at 1030 (0930 BST) dressed in a mock police uniform and carrying an assault rifle, hand-gun and grenades.

He is believed to have been embroiled in a long-running dispute with local officials.

The Swiss parliament is debating as we speak how to remove the army ammunition from every Swiss home.

There are lunatics everywhere Lilwolf, this is why gun control laws are a good idea, everywhere:

Quote: 1996: Massacre in Dunblane school gym
A lone gunman has gone on a shooting spree at a school in Dunblane, Scotland, killing 16 children and their teacher.
The killer sprayed shots at random around the school gym in an attack that lasted just three minutes, but caused carnage in a class of five and six year olds. He then turned the gun on himself.

Twelve other children were taken to hospital in Stirling, where one is reported to have later died of his injuries.

The killer has been named as Thomas Hamilton, 43, a local man, who had once - briefly - been a scout master before being sacked by the Scout Association.

Ah yes, the dunbalne thing. Well that is your nations screw up and clearly not ours. You guys had the chance and you blew it and now they took your RTO away from you. Now you have to depend on Hobbie Bobbies to watch out for you.

Everybody has nuts in their nations. Gun control works well enough and no matter what anyone says you will not like it....so what. The large amount of gun owners which is 80 to 90 million strong say we will not allow additional dumb ass laws when the ones we have are working quite well.

A lunatic obsessed with guns did that, we all agree that something had to be done to limit the risk of it happening again. British gun lovers were the first ones to call for tougher gun control laws and they willingly handed over their handguns.
We responded to the massacre of Dunblane just like the Swiss did.

It is certainly not working well in America where 8,000 American lives are lost every year needlessly, how many Dunblane's is it per year Lilwolf?

I isn't working Thrilla, your lunatics are well armed and killing Americans at an insane rate. Have your family living in a country with a low murder rate, it is the best protection you can give them.

Gun control is all about murder rate Thrilla, this is what you want to defend your family against, murder and yet you are going the wrong way about it.

Our guncontrol is working pretty well. We like our guns, and we are not about to give them up.

What makes us different is that we value them and unless you are an idiot you do not give up your guns without a fight.

Your gun problem is out of control, America has a murder rate two to three times the murder rate of any nations of the rest of the western democratic world and 6 to 10 times the murder rate with firearms.

Your murder rate with handgun only is higher than most murder rates with all weapons in the rest of the western democratic world!

You are different Lilwolf, you are killing each other as an insane rate and most of the times with handguns, yet you don't understand when someone suggests that you would be better off with tougher handgun control laws.

70 Million More Guns…38% Less Violent Crime

Friday, September 22, 2006

Data released by the FBI on Monday showed that in 2005, the nation’s total violent crime rate was 38% lower than in 1991, when violent crime hit an all-time high. Rates of the individual categories of violent crime were also much lower in 2005 than in 1991. Murder was 43% lower, rape 25% lower, robbery 48% lower, and aggravated assault 33% lower. The FBI’s report came on the heels of a Bureau of Justice Statistics crime survey that found that violent crime was lower in 2005 than anytime in the survey’s 32-year history.

And that comes from your own FBI source dated 9/22/06

Having a lower murder rate than the US means nothing Milo1047, everyone in the western democratic world has a lower murder rate than the US.

Switzerland is very much concerned about the number of murders with firearms in such peaceful rich small country, of course they wouldn't be if they compared their murder rate with Alaska!

Quote: Military menace

...................

A recent study indicated that 58% of all murders in Switzerland were within the family. In the Netherlands, also a peaceful, prosperous Western European country, the figure is 29%.

Mr Boess blames the Swiss army's policy of requiring Swiss men, who all have to do military service, to keep their guns and ammunition at home in case of an emergency call-up.

What that means is that nearly all Swiss men have a Sturmgewehr - an assault rifle - stored somewhere in their homes.

Those who make it to officer level have an automatic pistol too, and when men leave the army, they are allowed to keep their guns. No licence is required.

"If things go wrong, he can go upstairs, get the gun, and shoot," says Mr Boess.

In most of Switzerland's "family dramas", an army gun is used. Stadler shot his famous wife with his officer's pistol.

"It's very common to hear women tell how their husbands remind them they have a gun in moments of tension," says Brigitte Schnegg, professor of gender politics at Berne University.

"They'll say: 'If you don't do what I want, don't forget I've got my gun upstairs.'"

We are all concerned about murders except for people in America it seems reading American posters in this forum.
