Drudge is reporting Katie's numbers had her in third place by week's end.

Many people said it wouldn't work.

I don't think anyone really expected her to clean up. I mean how could any semi-intelligent person expect her to go from fluff and puff to real news? Regardless of how biased she is/becomes/was.

Right or wrong, "cutesy" faces on news programs harken back to the weather bunnies they put on screen in tank tops to point at the clouds and rain drops while their top half jiggles.

She probably is competent, but I doubt she will ever be perceived as anything but a fluffy card reader.

I never realized that this was a political issue. But after seeing the usual people take sides, I guess it is. So I'll fall in line.... I guess that means I'm FOR katie.....

I don't have a television and have never seen Ms. Couric but I heard about her debut ad nauseum on the net. I would suspect everyone tuned in the first night to either cheer her or watch her crash. So, it's not surprising that after the first night, her ratings would drop more in line with the network norm.

Good point...lol...although I would argue that that about covers almost all our 'news' now that we've completed the shift from real journalists to coffee-klatch "personalities". ::insert -gag- here::

She is also not a hard journalist, nor terribly bright. I think she only survived as long as she did because she was one among many - a multicast on the morning news thingee that I never watched. Methinks they were mistaking longevity for talent and weight, and counting on a known face to make their move over to a more conservative show.

:::yawn:::

Don't really care. %* Crash & burn, all you phoney 'reporters.' Take the teleprompter away, and they'd all sound like Bush in 2000 before the groomers got a hold of him.

In a month it will be the A-anybody, B-but, C-Couric network
Love to see the woman who wore the mourning clothes (the ones she wore to her husbands funeral) the morning after Bush won the Presidency, on the 'morning show she hosted. LOL
She'll be dragging them out to wear on her last evening news show soon.
She'll be replaced by Al Frankens 'secretery'. LOL

First, this short break:

All the news anchor's ratings should be low since the Republicans don't watch the news;
and
I hope this means the American viewing public knows the difference between schmooze and news.

:lol: :!oops: :lol: I had such a crush on her in HS, that was way back during the Clinton administration :wink:

I still *cough* value her journalistic integrity *cough* though...she does a pretty good job filling in for Chris Mathews on HardBall.
