Ok, here's the problem. I got wireless DSL which has worked decently (not great but certainly passible). I also live less than a block away from a motel that is directly between me and my ISP's wireless DSL antana. Said motel offers wireless service to its customers and they just boosted their signal significantly which has caused a lot of interference and screwed up my abilty to get a good connection with my ISP. My computer actually connects me to their internet more often than my ISP, unfortuneatly the connection is almost as bad as my ISP is now.

So can I get some sort of signal booter to either increase my connection speed to my ISP or better yet increase my connection speed with the motel so I can dump my ISP altogether and leach of the motel's signal?

My only alternative if this doesn't work is to dump my current ISP anyway and get cable internet.

Sounds like an issue with channels. The hotel shouldn't be interfering with your wireless DSL unless they are transmitting on the same channel as your ISP. See if either the hotel or your ISP will work with you to get the channel changed so you don't have so much interferrence.

Another option you have is to get a Yagi antenna for your wireless DSL. A Yagi antenna is a directional antenna that will boost the signal in one direction only. Here is a link on how to build one from a pringles can if you want to give it a shot. http://www.oreillynet.com/cs/weblog/view/wlg/448

Personally I would get cable internet. Come to think of it I dumped my DSL a few years back in favor of cable and haven't regretted it since.

Your ISP needs to report the interference to the FCC.It's against the law to cause interference to anyone's transmitter or receiver.

I was thinking a directional antenna (you can buy them or make them) on top of your roof might do the trick. Changing the channels may or may not work, I'm not too familiar with the details of wireless technology.

I'd ask the motel for advice, and if they don't cooperate then I'd go to the FCC.

Unless things have changed, since the ISP was there first and the Motel is now causing interference then it's up to the Motel to fix the problem.
