Being extremely hung over from a night of wanton abandon... i thought it was an interesting subject to disscuss.^^

My good friend has recently turned Straight Edge and its been a great thing for him. Before when he drank he got so over emotional and was really messy, now hes such a happier person and so much easy to deal with.

I have quite enjoyed watching all my friends get hammerd (normally whilst i was on Shrooms and therefore couldnt drink... *ahem*) and its great.

But personally i could never give up drink. Id like to cut down how much i spend on it for sure but never another drop? No more wine with a meal? No more cognac with my dad? No more Snapps with a danish lunch?

And today we met my friend Freds new gf. Im not sure how old she is but she looks 16ish and i was sitting around in my robe talking about drink and drugs before Fred says 'yeah, Alex is the complete opposite to straight edge!' and tells me his gf is SE. hehe.

How can you have tested your limits at 16? Thats just mad. Id only just started to go out to pubs and clubs at that age!

Anyway. Are any of you straight edge? are your friends? what are your thoughts?

I had no idea what the hell you were talking about until I looked up "Straight Edge" on Wikipedia.

The answer is No. I have no interest in turning "straight edge."

I am not completely straight edge since I am a big fan of casual sex, but I don't smoke, drink, or do drugs and I never want to.

Yeah. I owned a bar in Bangkok for a little while and my father has owned bars most of my life. He used to get me drunk all the time when I was a little kid. Can't say I enjoyed it. I still taste wine occasionally, but that's only to be polite. As for smoking ... I've smoked a little. I like the taste, but I don't like the risk associated with it, so I abstain from smoking. I've also smoked pot and I have to say, it is the most retarded drug evar. It's fun for a few minutes, but then it gets boring, and the effects don't go away for several hours, which gets me mad. I have also tried cocaine, accidently. I thought it was sugar candy. Made my lips and tongue numb for like fifteen minutes. Doubt I will ever do that again.

Assuming that "Straight Edge" means no smoking, no drinking, no drugs, and no sex before marriage, then I've always been straight edge.

I have the same reason for not smoking, drinking, and for not using drugs: can't stand the taste. Nothing to do with laws, or expectations, but I'm sensitive to smoke and alcohol, and I have a fear of needles.

As for sex; a mix of personal morals, and fear of the consequences.

I'm not straight edge, never have been and doubt I ever will be, but it is a personal choice that is the best choice for some people. I have knwon straight edgers who I respected and who's choices I appreciated and i have known straight edgers who were obnoxious jerks.

I'VE GOT THE STRAIGHT EDGE!

/minor threat

I don't drink smoke or do drugs because I've been there and done that and found nothing at the end of those paths. I am celibate by fact more-so than choice, but even if I was more charismatic, I don't know if I would be engaging in pre-marital sex much anyway, as I just don't think it's morally OK.

Yeah, I couldn’t be “straight edge.” Premarital sex is what I live for. Without that, I’d gladly kill myself. If I had my way about it, I'd literally have about 4 or 5 different girls every week, two at a time. And drinking is a fun pastime as well. Especially being drunk around a lot of other drunk girls. Some drugs are fine as well. Simply more things to add to the fun of life as far as I am concerned.

there's quite a few straight edge people at my school(and twice as many people burning the candle at both ends).

the people that usually do drugs and drink all the time are complete and total ****(not that you are or the majority of people who do it). usually when people become staight edge here it's so they don't seem like those people. orrrr they just don't want to do drugs and drink.

i think it's weird. i don't do drugs or drink but i would never call myself straight edge. it's not like i'm against drinking(if you do it responsably, which most people my age don't).

to be honest I have very little in common with the "SE" crowd, course now that I'm in my mid-20s there are fewer and fewer of them around....I've seen more then one SE kid fall the other way and end up going over-board.....god did it suck to baby sit those people.

same. i once dated a guy from Cape Cod. "Cape Kids" come in all shapes and sizes but they only have two types when it comes to drinking, drugs, and casual sex. there are the Straight Edgers and then there are the Complete Opposite of Straight Edgers. of all the SE kids that i met when i was 18 (4 years ago)... NONE of them are SE anymore. they all get drunk, some do minor drugs (some do MAJOR ones), and all of them have sex with each other.

i have never been SE and never will be, but i haven't had anything to drink in a while and i don't do drugs. i got all of my drinking and casual sex out of the way between 19 and 20. but anyway, as i said, i used to know more than a handful of SE people but i know absolutely none now. it works for some people but from what i have experienced, it doesn't last long after age 18. and it does suck to have to babysit them when they fall off the bandwagon.... oh so much.

there is something too be said about getting it out of your system, I'm still up for a good time now, but not quite like I was when I was 21, 22, and 23........at least I think.....that's a pretty hazy time for me
