I'm never sure of the criteria here...

I see Kumar's thread about Aghanistan and the comeback of the Taliban, in which both the article he quotes and his accompanying comments are critical of US policy, has been moved from the P&G thread to the News and Current Afffairs area. Why? I see plenty other thread much less connected with P&G stay on there.

And while I know that anything that mentions 9/11 and their own, or even indeed a Republican candidate's contention, that it didn't happen as the Government have told us it happened with automatically get consigned to the "Alternate Theories" area, why doesn't the same seem to happen to threads such as ones that claim Saddam did have WMD but smuggled them into Syria or that Saddam had links to Al Qaeda or that Iran plan to develop nuclear weapons......etc

Ah, that's better...got it off my chest

Thanks for bringing this up, Timmy. I don't want to make a big deal out of it, but I don't see how a thread dealing with the failures of US and NATO policies does not qualify for the P&G forum.

Most times it's a judgment call from the staff member that moved it.It's nothing personal.

David....thanks for your input..

I understand what you have said, but on the basis of it do you think...

1/ there should at least be an accompanying thread by the staff member concerned that moved it to explain who it was and why they did it (I appreciate that the vast majority won't need much of an explanation, however I really think that Kumar's thread could have done with one)

2/ That staff member's decision should be subject to any reveiw by other staff members? Do threads ever get moved back?

I think the perception could be, on the basis of what you have said, that individuals involved in moving thread could be moe influenced by their particular political bias then the content...

Generally speaking, the rule seems to be: if it's a well thought-out thread which is sure to provoke intellectual discussion, shove it into one of the smaller forums. If it's a troll thread, it stays in P&G.

No Nathyn, as usual, you are wrong. It has already been answered by David. Typically if it is more "news" orientated than "political" it will be moved to News and Current Affairs.

1. The person usually does, but not always, post why it was moved but it's not a rule that they must.

2. All decisions made by a moderator are reviewed by an admin and in the past threads have been moved back and or unlocked.
