Quote: France is an enemy of the USA and no matter what our treaties say, 90% + of Americans would support a war of conquest on France. WP is an American program. I doubt that has anything to do with it, probably just a glitch, but you never know.
Yet they were the main factor in creating America when they took up with you in the War of Independance.
Americans have no sense of appreciation. The English torched the White House and screwed you sideways on more than one occasions, yet you still buy tickets to see Hugh Grant act like a nob in some flakey flim.
I think Americans should all be speaking French after 1776. And eating snails and allowing birds to cultivate armpit hair like Han Solos co-pilot. |

Why don't we just give the French the Statue of Liberty back?
Because it looks cool. Maybe we should give France back to Germany? The Germans could civilize them!
Claiming that Germans could sivilise anyone is like claiming that a monkey with a gun is a good idea... |

Uh, the British weren't Vikings.... I know you Brits and Germans think you are Norsemen, but only us Scandinavians, the Faroese and Icelanders are the original Norsemen. |

it seems rare that a white american does not have either British, Irish or German ancestry. one of those three normally pops up.
My synopsis of the overall ethnic stock when it is averaged out is:
18 Percent = British
15 Percent= German
12 Percent= Irish
10 Percent= Latino/Spanish
10 Percent= African/Black
5 Percent = Italian
4 Percent = Scandinavian
4 Percent = East Asian
3.5 Percent = French
3.5 Percent= Polish
3 Percent = Native American
2.5 Percent= Dutch
2.5 Percent = Russian
1 Percent = South Asian/Arab
Other= 6 Percent |

I'm 1/2 Irish and 1/2 Japanese, can't get much more opposite in terms of personality. I'm the 4th generation in America on both sides. My mother's side is Irish, my father's is Japanese. My Japanese family descends from the Anyu (Mongolian and siberian-russian crossbreed). My granfather was one of the American-Japanese who fought in WWII against Japan while his family was in an internment camp. After the airforce, he joined the FBI and then became a CIA executive in Los Angeles at the height of the Cold War. My mother's family came to America after the Civil War and moved to California during the Great Depression finding a job at Goodyear Tires.
I definitely have both sides in me. My hair, my facial features, and my rebelliousness are Irish. My skin tone, my personality, and business mindset are Japanese. My eyes are a combination of both, giving me almond shaped eyes.

Wrong. Some settled in Yorkshire and Derbyshire and mingled with the Anglo-saxons. |

The normans were also a Viking tribe and the Rus (some of the Russians) were also Vikings.
The blood maybe diluted, but it is there. |

| I have a rich heritage. Two of my grandfathers came from Lithuania. One of my grandmothers are italian and the other is Irish and British. I have traced my heritage all the way back to the May Flower. |

Half Anglo/American: My British ancestry has been in North America literally since the Pilgrims landed on Plymouth Rock. I think 400 years is long enough to qualify the lineage as being as much American as it is English.
Half Irish: pretty straightforward; my Mother's grandparents all immigrated from Ireland. |

Speaking as someone from the old world, there is nothing I find more abnoxious than so damned yank claiming somekind of link to a european country because their ancestor was one of those peasants who couldn't hack it over here.
What an obnoxious and ill-informed thing to say. People have no control over their lineage any more than said ancestors had any control over which set of imaginary lines they were born in. I take pride in my mostly British descent, since I find Britain and her history to be so interesting. I like to think I do have some blood connection to many of the events of this past. It grants a fascinating continuity to things...its not as though those souls who crossed oceans and built this country into what it is (the "peasants" could certainly "hack" that) disappeared into a black hole or something. Many of us (myself included) still have strong family ties in the old world.
Anyways, my fathers side has been traced back as far as the mid 1600's in Lincolnshire, mostly due to the heavy military tradition of that side of the family. The first one to pop up on this side of the pond was a retired Royal Navy officer named Stuart Wells. My family were very much loyalists during the revolution, and when one of the sons was granted a commision in the Continental Army, it split the family badly. As far as I can tell this side of the family remained nearly pure scotch/english up till the last century, when it started to gain the typical american mutt pedigree.
My mothers side is mostly irish, both original sides having been irish immigrants, but there is a spattering of german, french, italian, and russian tossed in. And at least some chinese, around a century ago.
If asked, I usually say I am of British descent, and proud of it, just to keep things simple. |

You're assuming that the Mayflower was the only boat transporting people from England to America. |
