That's because Hezbollah was getting their ass handed to them. The shame is that Israel did not finish the job, because these animals will be back. |

You two just can't get anything right, can you... It was THE WORLD COMMUNITY & THE UN & LEBANON, that was begging for a cease-fire, not hezbollah! |

That's BS fiction and you know it. They got their ass handed to them and they went with the Lebanese govt. and begged for Israel to cease fire. What is so hard for you to understand there. Good grief. :gdgf: |

No, it's true, sorry - the link proves it, btw.

No, the lebanese citizens & the IDF got their asses handed to them...
again, sorry, but the number prove this
lilwolf wrote: and they went with the Lebanese govt. and begged for Israel to cease fire.
I wouldn't say begged, in fact I've seen no one say beg - i would just say that they wanted the civilians to stop being bombed...

Well what does this say and it is from the link that is posted. I would venture to say that it says Hezbollah therein black and white.
BEIRUT, July 28 -- As fighting raged on in southern Lebanon, Hezbollah joined the Lebanese government in a peace proposal calling for an immediate cease-fire with Israel followed swiftly by a prisoner exchange and reinforcement of U.N. troops along the embattled border, senior Lebanese officials said Friday.
The agreement for the first time put Hezbollah and the rest of the Lebanese government in a unified position on how to end the 17-day-old conflict. But its terms varied widely from ideas put forth by Israel and the United States, particularly its insistence on an immediate cease-fire
So, now what does that say there fiction. |

Okay, one more time since you are appearing to be a little slow at getting this. So, lets make this simple.
I say they got their ass handed to them because if you are losing and losing big then you surrender and opt for a cease fire. If there is no cease fire then logically you are gaining ground. So when the hez joins with the govt. and wants a cease fire...what does that prove? It proves you have lost and you have been beaten....thus my term got their ass handed to them.
If you remember Israel did not want to stop and only because the hez and the lebanese govt as well as the UN begged and asked Israel to cease fire then and only then did they stop...thus my term ...begging.
They lost big and they needed and damn near did not get their cease fire that they needed, and pleaded for. |

I just see it differently then you... doesn't make me slow, just accurate.

I say the IDF got their ASSES handed to them, as per the number of casualties on each respective side - in which there were more IDF casualties, than Hezbollah
Hez wanted a cease-fire, because Israel was attackign civilians, and EVERYONE want that to STOP - except for Israel & the USA... who apparently like to assault civilians!
lilwolf wrote: If you remember Israel did not want to stop
Yes, they were happy to attack civilians = GROSS

Israel & the IDF were the losers here - you see that HUGE Hezbollah rally in Beruit today? |

The rally is nothing more than propaganda and you know that.... :-D
As for all of the other things I would want to see accurate numbers of IDF forces killed vs Hezzbollah fighter and not civilians.
Civilians in this were for the most part caused by the hez hiding with civilians.
You can think as you wish and i will respect that okay, but I just see it from a military and strategic POV. |

| When my father fought in the yom kipur war, they would read news reports coming from the arab governments about how they were winning and pushing the soldiers back. Reports that directly contradicted what he could clearly see happening. |

There is no doubt that militarily Israel would have been able to acheive it's desire to destroy Hizbollah had it had the time required.
Victory is not something that is just equated to military might or damages. Hizbollah have a victory because they have won the popular support of the Lebanese people. They have become the "freedom fighters" for the oppressed that Iran wants them to be regarded as, and probably will sign more fighters in the coming year than were already on their books.
Check out the BBC / CNN reports on todays rally. People are pledging their support and their childrens lives to Hizbollah and Nasarallah. Hizbollah got the strategic victory that they needed to continue.
They also in the process managed to destroy any hopes of a unity government forming in Palestine because Hamas now have to raise their rhetoric so they maintain the support and are not seen as week or pro-israeli. |
