Cya later Tony Blair, hope you like life living with Jean Chretien and remembering the entire populace you screwed while in office.
A message to the finance minister, 2 words, Paul Martin, good luck, rebound PMs.

I agree. He had the stones to publicly say he would end the war in Northern Ireland and he did it. Both parties came down on him for negotiating with Sinn fein to get it done, but he said he would end the war and if he failed, he'd resign.
I don't know any other politician who would put it on the line like that. I admire his chutzpah and his cahones. I am also sickened at what has happened to him for following Bush to war. I think he deserved better than to be dragged into a war on a steaming pile of BS. Good allies are hard to come by these days, and we should do better by them. |

I totally agree with you on all that has happened to him. Still he's a good man, and maybe taking over the labour party is a good thing at this time...have to wait and see. :-| |

| He still hasn't announced his date for leaving. For all we know he'll be here for another year. |

Blair has actually made great steps forward within GB. While his foreign policy can easily be questioned, he has increased spending on our national health service by magnitudes while on office and reduced the dept of our country.
So 'screwed us all'? Not really. |

It's been like that since the British Empire broke down following WWII... I wish it wasn't the case but it is... It's not PM dependent. |

Blair is a traitor. His support of Bush, the Iraq war, the WOT all leave me feeling sick and betrayed. His part in all the lies, deceit and denial that surround this whole period is an insult to the men and women of this nation sent to die in an unjustifiable war. His foreign polices have made the threat from terrorism and resulted in the deaths of innocents on an unacceptable scale. There is no credit due to Blair, he is a criminal on borrowed time and has created a deep rift in his own party by following an ideology laid down by an American president that is against the interests of this nation and of the free world.
His domestic polices have been more succesfull, but I have a big problem with the nanny state politics of this government which is trying to seek domination of what we say, where we say it and curbing freedoms that are the cornerstone of this nation of democracy.
Labour is in decline, he knows it, the polls show it and it is about time the complacent voters of this nation marched and rid our nation of the shame of the Blair years.
I for one cannot wait for him t leave number ten downing street for no 10, The Hague for his trial on crimes against humanity. We hold Saddam accountable for the slaughter of innocents, how can it be justifible for us to do the same? |

That;s true, but in fairness to him, I know he went into it believing what Bush was feeding him and sure it was the right thing to do. At some point, he obviously realized he had been duped, but by then it was too late.
We had a man of some integrity (IMHO) here put in the same position: Colin Powell. Bush used Powell's prestige and standing to pimp off his pack of lies to the UN. Again, at that time Powell did not realize he was being duped.
I think it's easy for lying thugs to sucker in honest men.... at least, the first time. I don't think it's fair to blame them for it since their silence is simply due to loyalty. |

When Blair came to power, all us poor Brits thought a new age would be swept in. I voted for him twice like a huge chunk of the British population.
Domestically, he has been rubbish. Apart from the minimum wage, he has done little else. The only saving grace is that the Conservatives were ten times worse than him.
But he is most hated in Britain for siding with the US and making us a terrorist target along with Israel and the US (who have a habit of sticking their peckers in other peoples sand).
It always amuses me that Americans like Blair.
It probably amuses Americans that the majority of the UK think Bill Clinton was a great man. |

It's definitely time for Tony Blair to step down. His authority is shot. I can't think of any other incidence of a British PM actually stating that he would resign a full three years early - he announced his intention to leave in his third term in an interview back in 2004. Actually his big mistake was in not taking on Gordon Brown back in 1994, but that's for the history books.
The allegations of being a Bush poodle are contemptible so I'm not going to waste keyboard time in refuting them, but his domestic record is certainly checkered. We have a lot more laws now but I'd argue that our system of law is weakened. Most Brits don't like 'banning' orders of the sort handed down to terror suspects, nor do we like cosmetics like Anti-Social Behaviour Orders. Blair blinked when dealing with the public services - slackening off on reforms while accelerating on extra spending, much of which predictably has been eaten up in higher labour costs.
I also think that TB's government will be remembered for lowering public confidence in governance and politicians, which is a real shame. |

Well, everytime we see him he is standing next to the Prince of Idiots. Blair can't help but look like a genius and icon of integrity to us poor yankees.... |

That's how our political system works. They all meet and humiliate each other with witty put downs. Even the PM isn't beyone or above it... And now its televised so we can all watch it...
BTW, its the House of Commons  |

| Well ours is televised, how boring, seems like a daycare for overpayed adults. Commitees, Inquirys and more meetings, any results? yes, wasted oxygen. At least GB parliament is funnier. |

Prime Minister's Questions can be amusing - the rest of it can be as dull as Ottawa, believe me |
