AP
Military tribunals could resume at Guantanamo Bay as soon as early 2007 if Congress approves new legislation to try the detainees, the military's chief prosecutor for detainees at the base said Wednesday.
The Department of Defense would have three months after the passage of the legislation to come up with new rules for the tribunals, which were struck down by the Supreme Court in June, Air Force Col. Morris Davis, told The Associated Press.
"I'm expecting we will be back in court around the first of the year," the chief prosecutor said in an interview from his office in Arlington, Va.

I'd be interested to hear what some of the journalists are doing there.
This is one story...

Innocent until proven guilty?
That still applies doesn't it? Or just not to the people who you've been brainwashed into thinking are guilty by your government and press... |

It is interesting how many people tend to equate "justice" with retribution. Perhaps our Constitutional system, which also applies to the conduct of military tribunals, should be of more concern, particularly in connection with the proper formulation and application of due process to protect the rights of both the accused and society. Isn't true justice the product of an honest attempt to achieve fairness in the judicial process which will hopefully lead to a true result? Be careful in rushing to judgment of others. It would be very easy to do the same if you are accused of something; perhaps wrongfully.
