From what I've read, it's inconsistant.

The Russian military is presently not unified, as to: supplies, equipment, and/or treatment. Similar to the remainder of Russia's population, hence the migration of Russians en mass to other nations. Including the USA.

Those are the kind of guys I want fighting next to me.

Looks like boot camp in a place that knows how to properly condition soldiers.

so you support this kind of conditioning? Are you kidding me?? Hell yes you should support this kind of conditioning for troops. Not once did I see a soldier get hit in the face, they were all body shots, and the soldiers took them and went right back to their feet. They are training to be soldiers, not athletes.

Some of it is similar to what you'd go through in a serious martial arts class, although these guys go a bit over the top. The shared experience of physical and mental trauma also builds very strong bonds, which is why it's been used in frats, the military and other organizations for millenia. Given their limited resources I don't think this kind of conditioning is totally outrageous. Not everyone can fight wars with joysticks and video screens.

Absolutely. They may have been a bit odd in their approach (they sure do like to hang all over each other) but they are doing nothing but building self esteem and conditioning them for the realities of the military and the relaities fo miliary life. Those were not abusive - no one was seriously injured. They are testing mental fortitude and teaching them that they can make it through tough situations.

I stand beside my previous comments.

One day in the battle field, these soldiers will turn around at the first chance they get and shout their trainers...That's what i would do...There's no need to beat these guys to bond with them, they should teach them that on the battle field all they have is each other, and that's more than enough to bond if you ask me...

I know they are all body shots but it's little too much and what bug's me is that they are doing it for fun, that why they have a camera.

If a was in that group I'd tell the group next time they come in, we get them and do a little beating of our own...hell! I'd get ride of them, it's late at night, no one would know, and then we can bound.

Yeah - telling guys to bond works well.

You have to make them bond. Going through that crap together makes you bond. You learn how to support each other and how to keep each other motivated. You learn that if you do not get up the whole group will be punished.

You don't teach stuff like that by word of mouth.

It sounds like a military mentality and i don't like it...Knowing that you will fight for each other should be enough to bound...Because that's what you're fighting for at the end, you not fighting for Bush or your country, you fight to keep each other alive. That's how i see it.

I understand that this kind of "condtioning" does build a certain character. But you i understand russian and those guys were enjoying themselves. This kind of abuse happens often Russia's army. I read many stories on how people got permanent damage after that. Even if you take a hard punch to the chest, if you are unlucky, and get hit in the right spot, where the heart is, you may sustain permanent damage.
The only reason all of the shots were body shots is cause the next day the officers would not see the wounds and therefore would not know what happened, and a soldier who squeels to the officers will not live to see another day in the Russian army.

If you don't think some sawed off loud mouthed Drill in the US Army doesn't enjoy smoking noobies to the point of puking or passing out then you must not understand why we are such a great military.

Our military does all the same things my friend. Maybe not as crude and as disorganised but you will have gotten your ass beat down and your mind completely spent before you get to be - Army or Marine Infantry.

It is the only way they know you have a chance at holding up in real life stress that you will see on a battlefield.

Nonsense. Most people in the US military are there because they signed up voluntarily. That is not the case in Russia.
