UNIFIL is supposed to be neutral, instead it fed Hezbollah up to the minute details of IDF position, artillery. Will the new UNIFIL be better?

| Just one more reason for the US to get out of this disgustingly corrupt organization. It's our tax dollars that are making this possible. |

Has anybody read this report properly? It is just accusations, with no corroborating evidence from any UNFIL or U.N personnel. Where is there a shred of any proof from this author, to back up any part of his claim? Also have a look who the author is? FFS don't make me laugh. This is a nonsense peace of propaganda. |

| This seems a bit too active for the UN last time all they did was throw out tank barriers and ruin some roads. Though some UN personel have in the past taken a distinct participation in the conflict. |

no, they posted the information on their public website for all to see, is amazingly easy to verify. I guess you didn't read the article or you would know that.
Here they are http://www.un.org/Depts/dpko/missions/unifil/unifilpress.htm |

not exactly top-notch intelligence, but I spotted two or three sentences which could easily be construed as aiding Hezbullah in its fight against the IDF.
One of the most damning sentences said. "It [ISrael} substantially reinforced the number of troops in ... the eastern areas."
It named the specific areas but I don't need to go into that. This is pretty serious and I think it is enough to end UNIFIL's mandate.
The article made a good point about the 2000 incident. Hezbullah captured and murdered 3 IDF soldiers, and UNIFIL refused to help the Israeli investigation because of its neutrality. However these postings just contradicted their previous claim. In 2000, UNIFIL refused to stop a breach of the cease-fire by HEzbullah and refused to aid in the investigation of a war crime in which 3 POW's were murdered. in 2006, they are giving up positions of Israeli troops and detailing where they were reinforced.
I thought the UN was biased before, now I know they really are out to get ISrael. |

IDF forces from the Golani Brigade blasted open a Hizbullah bunker overnight Saturday some 400 meters from the security fence near Rosh Hanikra, it was reported on Sunday. The bunker was discovered a mere stone's throw from a UN post.
According to Lt.-Col. Jassem Elian, a senior officer in the Golani Brigade, "Hizbullah dug a 40-meter by two-kilometer pit, in which they built dozens of outposts."
Elian added that the bunker had "shooting positions of poured concrete," and that the combat posts inside were equipped with phone lines, showers, toilets, air ducts, and emergency exits, as well as logistical paraphernalia for Hizbullah.
so they report on all of israel's troop movements |
