I'd like to suggest this thread as a recepticle for those odd stories that show our country, the UK (or its composite nations if you prefer), has/have 'gone wrong'.

Here's a starter anyway

It makes me sad that the country is significantly populated by people with no aspiration, hope or anything for for the future...

12? WTF?

Do you guys have a show similar to Springer over there? This sounds like a prime candidate as a guest.

All too many, afraid to say; another sign the country's going to the dogs!
At least Springer has the exoticism of being foreign with lots of interesting down-home, southern fried accents whereas the British home-grown variety is filled with fat, ill-educated, violent scum of the variety you see around and about every day.

Yeah, it's called 'Trisha'. Though Jerry Springer has done a couple of UK shows as well....

Maybe we should have just traded shows so they both would have had that "exoticism" on both sides of the pond. I could pretty much sum up Springer here in the states with the exact same verbage you used for your shows.

An excellent idea! You could commission a back to back Bookends of Britain night on US network TV - three hour Tricia marathon followed by something by Merchant Ivory......

We can return the favor by giving you three hours of Fox(more silly than the news channel) followed by HBO. I might suggest doing something else for three hours and skipping to the end, it's what I do.

An awful lot of blonde women in Hollyoaks I seem to remember! And re Emmerdale FARM - yes, I remember when the raciest thing would be Grandpa Sugden talking about some new brand of sheep dip.....

She's a class act

Quote: A drug addict mother has been jailed for nine years for supplying heroin and crack cocaine to her son from the age of nine.

What's amazing is how many concurrent sentences she's serving, it seems to be about 3-4. They should be served sequentially! Allowing this, is like saying "you can do loads of really bad things but your sentence is soley based on the worst one.

That does make me angry.
Heres a good one:

The UK was at the dogs long time ago. That is why now it's clinging to America to try and have a voice in this world.

Although it may indeed appear this way, the reality is that Britain tries to use the US to implement it's own foreign policy...

This is bad enough, without internal affairs as we're discussing here being so bad in certain areas...

that's my whole point, if the UK had a voice it would not feel the need to "use" America.

But it doesn't anylonger. WWII put pay to the end of the British as the global force in politics and America took its place.
