Quote: arabs are not a race, lebanese for example are now called arabs, 9000 years ago we were called phoenicians, but we are still the same people, same goes for the palestinians.
The Arabs are part fo the semetic peoples in their own catagory you can call it whatever you want.
The Phoencians however were a people and civilization destroyed thousands of years ago, they were crushed at last by Rome during the Punic wars as the last enclave of them was in Carthage. Their eastern kingdoms that were cities spread along Assyria and central in Tyre and Sidon was overcome by Arabic and African and Persian-Hellenic forces succesivly and though their may be remnants of their genes left over in the population it is archaic and hardly dominent as they were passed over thousands of years ago by other peoples.
The Arab people of today and Arabs in general are a mix of scores of different and rich backgrounds but to pick out a single one and say 'this is what still are today' is simply not true. In Lebanon for example Assyrians, Romans, Phoencians, Caanintes, Ancient Jews, Babylonians, Persians, Macedonians, and scores of other groups all ruled or entered the gene pool at some point.
The same of course is true for Jew's all over the planet make no mistake. |
