| I wanna take a poll and get some opinions on what everyone here thinks of the cops. Personally, I think they're cool, but they need to know they're limits and where the boundaries are. |

| A lot of the problems with cops is directly tied to the war on drugs, and peacful protests. |

It really just depends upon the cop.
I've met some cops who are extremely nice and friendly who really just want to help out society.
I've also met many cops who are abusive and will do anything to arrest/fine you. |

Most of the problems I see are linked with the police force as a whole. On some things, they have a lot of discretion, but on others they are required to be as harsh as possible (Silkheat mentioned the war on drugs). There is also the fact that cops are required to do a whole lot. Not only do they have to fight crime, but they have to preform a number of social services, as well. This can be stressful and annoying, which can lead to problems.
That being said, I've never met a bad cop. |

Is there a context here? Or, is this of the profession in general? Because I hate cops when they pull me over for speeding, but love them when they arrested by drug dealer neighbor (not because he was a dealer, but because he threw parties at 4 am on a Wednesday and disturbed the whole apartment complex many, many, many, many times).
Cops...good and bad depending on context. |

The only protests I've seen videos of being disrupted by cops, I wouldn't define as peaceful. |

| I wouldn't hate the police nearly as much if their job wasn't to force the State's morality down your throat. The police would be better if their job was only to protect your property. |

You hate cops when they catch you breaking the law and endangering others? Seems rather silly. I like cops who are competent, treat people with respect, and use their discretion wisely, even if they have to write me a ticket.
I will agree that we need some context here. Are we talking about law enforcement and policing in general, or police officers as individuals? |

I agree, I've met some cops that are great people, they do their job well, they are respectful, and don't act all pompous and hide behind their badge.
Alot of other cops i've met tried to be intimidating, and tried to twist your words to get you to say what they want to hear. All kinds of shi**y mind games they can play.
A lot of cops where I live don't even follow the rules of the road, they don't use blinkers or follow at a safe distance, they do U-turns in inappropriate places, across traffic etc, etc,. |

yeah, kinda figured North Korean cops were dicks.......funny thing is that I found Chinese cops(corruption aside) were much more helpful and nicer then American cops. |

No, I understood. My comments were just tongue-in-cheek. Sorry... |

The police, as a function of society, deserve a degree of respect for their authority which is needed in a society of laws. Individual men and women who become police deserve a degree of respect because they have chosen a much needed, potentially dangerous profession.
Should a police officer become abusive of his authority, he deserves to be put in his place in a suitably harsh manner. |

Generally speaking, if our society didn't pit us against each other and institutionalize distrust and disconnection, we wouldn't need outside entities (with guns) to resolve our conflicts and petty differences.
Being that they are tools of enforcement for a majority-ruled and intolerant society, they are always an enemy to me in that respect.
Step out of line, get shot, locked-away, beaten, fined, whatever.
I guess if you're a frightful conformist, the police are your friend. |

| I respect the law enforcement. I respect it so much that I am studying to become a police officer. If that doesn't work, I can always deal out my own version of vigilante justice. All police officers are different in the sense of manners and the way they go about things. Yeah some police officers are real jerks, but think about what they have to do. Every traffic stop could be the one where they get shot in the head through the car window. Police officers are just trying to do their job and hopefully go home every day. Now there are some corrupt crooked cops that fabricate and take advantage of their position of authority and those men and women do not deserve to wear the badge. A lot of people portray the police as bad cops, but I hope that you all realize what being a police officer actually involves. A lot more than your typical job. |
