So killing 600,000 people in order to stop the South from legally seceeding is great? |

Washington did consider him a good friend, but 'he was a slave only in name?' Silly, the fact that he was treated well doesn't mean he was not a slave. Dont forget that Washington pressured the British to return slaves who ran off to fight for the King, back to their owners.
I'm not trying to bash Washington, I find him an intelligent and remarkable man, however he was a product of his time; a wealthy slave owner. |

Im sure theres been threads on this before but im just curious...
1. Thomas Jefferson- Strong supporter of state's rights and worked against the centralizing of the state.
2. George Washington- Probably our best representative against the entanglement of alliances and foreign wars; THE problems that plague America today.
3. Grover Cleveland- One of the last defenders of a decentralized government. He vetoed many spending bills he considered unconstitutional; a necessary power we don't see today's president taking advantage of often. |

Man, I can just imagine the conversation if we lost the American Revolution:
"It's a good thing those rebels lost the war and good ol' King George kept the country together!" |
