Her son, Lloyd, 47, discovered water leaking from the tree in April. He said it was cool, like it came from the tap.
The only damp spot around the tree trunk is where the water lands.
Mark Peterson, a regional community forester from the Texas Forest Service said he believes it could be a spring, but pointed out that would be rare with the drought conditions this summer.
"If it is a burst pipe their monthly bill would be enormous," Peterson said.
Lucille Pope has started to wonder if the water has special properties.
Her insurance agent dabbed drops of the water on a spider bite and the welt went away, she said.
"I just want to know if it is a healing tree or blessed water," she said. "That's God's water. Nobody knows but God."

OOO water coming out of a tree... DEFINITELY an act of God. Because God Almighty would bother spending time concocting petty little mysteries for human beings to wonder about. Clearly, water squirting out of a tree is the way to spread the word of God and his will.

OMG OMG the water healed the bite! Post hoc ergo propter hoc. The water could have been dabbed on, wait a few days, and the bite could have disappeared through completely natural processes.

To my knowledge, springs flow regardless of drought or whatnot. Because the source of water comes from underground, a drought directly above the area does not necessarily mean the spring will be at a lack of water supply.

How about they get some REAL experts to get in there and conduct REAL tests? Instead of "taking pictures", check out whats inside the tree, whats gonig on underneath it, and the nature of the water itself. I'm pretty sure that with the right people and right equipment, there would be a very logical explanation for this. But such top-notch scientists shouldn't bother spending their time trying to disprove people's absurd claims that this water is from God and that is proves his existence. I mean, wtf?
Oh, and 50% of a tree's mass is water. Hmm, water from a tree? OMG ITS GOD?! |

they turned off her plumbing and the water stopped flowing from the tree last i heard. i will try to find a link to that. give me a few.

Water spouting tree mystery solved

SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- San Antonio's water department may have solved the mystery of the water spouting tree in a resident's backyard but that hasn't stopped the curiosity seekers.
The so-called weeping tree stopped weeping when the water supply was turned off to the house. City officials say the tree had tapped into an active water line running to a sink in a shed in the resident's backyard. The city said the water also tested positive for chlorine residue, reports the San Antonio Express-News.
But the visitors' flow hasn't stopped. "I tell them all how it is, and they still want it," said the homeowner. "I figure if they are still that strong in their faith, knowing all that, then go on."
There is now a "Do Not Enter" spray-painted sign on the chain link fence around the driveway.
Water started leaking non-stop from the tree three months ago and for a while there were no logical explanations.
"I pray it's from God," said one visitor. "And nothing will be false here. How can water go up a tree?"
It is not clear what the city, or the homeowner, plans to do next.

It usually does, though. If an aquifer gets depleted, the level of ground water goes down. Springs are the results of ground water that is above the level of the surface. One example, my in-laws have a water well that provides the water for their house. Usually it has no problems delivering all the water they need. During a major drought in their area, they had a few days when they couldn't pump water out, since the ground water level was below the well level.

Well, water in the liquid form doesn't usually come out of trees.
Personally, I think it's a burst pipe of some sort. |

Well, it isn't an act of God. But then, I don't know which is sadder, a God that can only wow people by making a tree gush water, or people that believe that a tree gushing water is the act of God.
Where did that God that created floods and kill first borns and made frogs fall from the sky go? Has he gotton lazy with this stuff? Or are we just more easily entertained. |

Look, all "miracles" are bs.
Just because you can't explain it at this moment doesnt make it a miracle. That is stupidity. Look at the greeks. THey couldn't explain how the sun rose--so they made it an "act of god" Thousands of years later, they seem really stupid don't they???
Trying to explain the unknown simply as an "act of god" is basically proving that your religion is nothing more than mythology. |
