Hi All, I'm wondering if there are any guys/girls from Snipers Hide or West Coast Tactical on this site? Or anyone else that likes to punch holes/critters "way out there". I'm shooting a Win Stealth in .308 for longer range paper punching and a Coyote in 7mm WSM for my hunting rig. What about the rest of you guys?
To make this gun CONTROL oriented, are you hearing any ranting about "sniper" rifle bans in your states? What are they defining sniper rifles as?

I don't see how they could ban sniper rifles... as "sniper rifle" is synonymous with "hunting rifle". |

Basically, any "sniper rifle" ban will just ban any rifle with the name "tactical" or "sniper" or anything scary and mean. They might choose some "sniper rifle" features, like bipods or range-finding scopes. They also might ban specific models. |

What makes you think that's not what they are really after??? An yeah, a long range tactical rifle is the same as a long range hunting rifle.... |

| Remember Ted Kennedy's 'armor piercing bullet' proposals? The one that would ban practically all rifle cartridges, including the .30-30 Winchester, because they could penetrate a low-level kevlar vest? Almost anyone with rational thought knows that vests were made to stop low-power pistol rounds and any rifle, short of a rimfire, will penetrate them. This is why more police die from rifles than handguns, yet more are shot with handguns. It makes no sense, but they don't care. So long as it bans something, they'll push it. |
