|

Since the U.S. has the highest incarceration rate of any industrialized nation in the world, it's time we start repealing laws instead of making new ones. My contention is that we are in a nanny state and don't need the government to protect us from ourselves. Here is your chance to post laws which you think no longer or never did serve an interest to society. I would love to see some of the most arcane laws you can find.
Here's mine to start:
The Michigan Supreme Court has now ruled that you no longer have to be intoxicated to be convicted of drugged driving, you just have to have THC in your system. |

| There are so many stupid laws in existence that giving one out on this site would be an understatement. |

First off, if that Punch George W ad pops up for you, take a look at the face they have on him. It practically looks nothing like him.
Second of all, are all of these real?
I live in WI, so I checked some of these out.
"It is illegal to cut a woman's hair." I am confused... |

| One stupid law is that in the US, police can't shoot at criminals under most circumstances, but yet citizens pay for thier jail. |

never knew what these were called. I always thought they were some religious exploitation of government.

Which i now add to my list of STUPID laws. |

Gotta love Texas!
"Up to a felony charge can be levied for promoting the use of, or owning more than six dildos.:
And Florida:
"Having sexual relations with a porcupine is illegal." (No friggin kidding.)
Kentucky: "One may not dye a duckling blue and offer it for sale unless more than six are for sale at once." (WTF)
Indiana, "A man over the age of 18 may be arrested for statutory rape if the passenger in his car is not wearing her socks and shoes, and is under the age of 17." huh???
Georgia, "Donkeys may not be kept in bathtubs." Could this have been that big of a problem??
Michigan, "It is illegal to kill a dog using a decompression chamber.". Again WTF? |

You know what this means? There has to be a reason for these laws to be made. That means that somebody, somewhere killed (or attempted to kill) a dog using a decompression chamber.
  |

The first Texas law listed is more disturbing than that:
Quote: The Texas Constitution
Article 1 - BILL OF RIGHTS
Section 4 - RELIGIOUS TESTS
No religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office, or public trust, in this State; nor shall any one be excluded from holding office on account of his religious sentiments, provided he acknowledge the existence of a Supreme Being. |

Apparently trying to kill the dog was just not quite enough "against the law".
