| A breast is a body part. The mere presence of an exposed body part is not offensive to me. The act of breastfeeding is not particularly disgusting to me. |

| It is the natural way to feed a newborn child. So long as it is classy about it, e.i . the mother is not completely topless, then who cares. |

| If I see something like that, I just walk by, say "eh" and continue doing what I was originally planning to do. |

| It all depends on how the breastfeeding is done. I personally think that it should not be done in a public place if avoidable. |

I don't understand how society came to the conclusion that there are some times when it is acceptable for a man to be topless (public swimming, for example) but there is never a time when it is acceptable for a woman to be topless.
I'm all for women being topless during the times when it is acceptable for a man. |

| I don’t understand. Of course I would not be offended. I do not even see how it could occur to someone to become offended at something so trivial. It does not make sense. |

Well there obviously are quite a few offended people out there seeing all the states and most of the provinces have laws against women exposing their breasts in public. |

| Breast feeding is one of the most natural human functions. You don't have to go into the bathroom to eat your lunch do you? Why should the baby? There is nothing 'indecent' about breastfeeding in public whatsoever. |

While i am not personally offended when i see public breast-feeding, i can understand why some people would be. I mean, we all know that breast feeding is a natural and vital function for a baby, but to a man a breast is a breast. It is a sexual thing that turns men on. Since i am a man, i dont care, but i could understand some wives or girlfriends not wanting their partners to see other women's breasts.
Imagine this: lets say milk came out of penises instead of breasts and babies had to suck penises to get the milk. Would you want your girlfriend or wife seeing another guys penis in public like that? Didnt think so.
This is why i am not personally offended by public breast feeding but i can understand the reasoning behind illegalizing it. |

Thats really not relevant..... at all..... what so ever to speak of. We are talking reality here, mothers feed thier children, its nature.
If people are truly offended, deal with it, and look away.
Some guys get all yippy of breasts, I am one of them, but I don't get my jollies watching someone breastfeed thier kid. |

And the law itself is perpetuating this by making breasts a taboo.
Back in the 1800s when people had to be fully clothed head to toe in any public setting or risk humiliation, the mere sight of a women's ankles turned men on.
If men (esp. boys) got to see breasts out in the open, they would become desensitized to them and it wouldn't turn them on to see them.
The only thing that will always turn a man on is the sight of a vagina, as that is programmed into all male's brains by nature. So women should always wear thongs or bottoms of some sort. |

Its not about being offended. Some people might not want their husbands or boyfriends looking at other womens breasts. What part of that dont you understand?
And is it that hard to breastfeed in private? If you feel you really need to feed your baby you should have some milk bottles prepared or go to a bathroom and do it. It really isnt that hard.... |

That is an interesting argument. I dont know if that would be true or not though. Personally, i would think breasts fall under the same category as vaginas in that it will always turn men on. Thats just my opinion, though.
And there will never be a time where women walk around topless anyway so men would never be "desensitized" like you say.
I think your argument supports legalizing public nudity more than it supports public breast feeding in general because in order for men to be desensitized they would have to see topless women on a much larger scale in public, and not just when mothers feed. |

Nobody by law should be forced to do that. If they are doing it on a public street, look away. If its in a store, stop shopping there. Its all very simple, all very consistitant with the "its a free country, deal with it" policy. |

Its amazing that many cultures are not obsessed with breasts, don't you think? |

I'm not advocated that women start walking around topless everywhere and I'm not advocating public vaginal nudity.
I'm just saying that in settings where it's appropriate for a man to be topless (at the beach, in the park, mowing the lawn, whatever) that a women should have the same ability.
Breasts are just breasts. They're not meant to be sexualized the way that they are in America.
It's sad that they are. It drives women with perfectly nice breasts to get plastic surgery to make them larger or better shaped. That's just stupid. |
