Okay so as one person realized I was indeed 'baiting'--as he put it--. To all those who this thread may have offended please forgive me. I recently took a political theory class in which the professor posed a question as to whether most of us knew the reason why we hold certain core values and would they actually be able to defend them intelligently if questioned. Well as in most of the academic community there is an assumption that "people are stupid" but I wanted to see if those who research politics are much diffrent those the 'regular' people.
This thread was very enlightening. While there were attempts on here to genuinly answer the question there was a lot of personal attacks against me for even daring to question this principle. This shows me that even 'intellectuals' do not want their basic principals challenged and/or are not willing to defend those challanges because frankly I'm not sure they actually know the answer and therefore resort to personal attacks to the questioner.
Some of you reading this will probably think "duh" and I've read this but I wanted to see it for myself.
Thanks |

Don't apologize, the overall reaction you got was completely uncalled for. Their fault for flaming you, not yours.
And to answer your question: if old people want support, they should get it from charity or their families. Aid should not be forced from the taxpayers. |
