| There used to be dictionaries like that. The ones in use now are not much better than a normal dictionary. The reason why the writers didn't go into high detail was for the sake of simplicity; you don't wan't the Constitution to be too complicated, like California's, which fills an entire book. I think that most of the crucial definitions in the Constitution can be taken from the writings the authors of the Constitution wrote, such as the Federalist Papers, notes on the Constitutional Convention, and other such things written by people like John Jay and James Madison. When you read these woks, there is little if any ambiguity left in the Constitution. |
