There are no votes in Communism.
There is Democratic Socialism, but even then the collective destroys the individual.
The collective destroys the individual? Another gem from the one-man propoganda machine! |

| A utopian society is where everyone works together to benefit the development of humanity as a whole. Not where everybody thinks and feels alike not where everyone is happy and at peace all the time...that's crazy talk. |

Would such a society not experience much greater and general happiness and peace? I think it is the only natural result.
We see the result of division and dominance: war, strife, famine, oppression, etc.
I don't need a gun to protect my home and my self.
If someone made it past my apartment neighbors, and if I don't shout out to them, maybe somone would have a chance of stealing from or harming me or anyone here.
That's what community does when we treat one another as one. And yes, I'm secure and happy. Even with little, together we have it all. |

Nobody is perfect and humans aren't perfect either.
For a good idea of a Utopian society, read "Brave New World"
The irony of that utopian society is that it only became utopian by destroying happiness. Even if a utopian society could ever possibly exist, it would have to destroy the things we love so much.
Its funny cause everybody says that anarchism is utopian but I'm totally in disbelief of utopia.
Agred Brave New World is probably the best example of a utopian society.
Also definately one of Huxley's best works.
But There is something Huxley missed. He missed to ackknowledge the fact that humans need utopian dreams to maintain their humanity.
But what Huxley was trying to point out was that the humans living in that utopian society only created it because they lost their humanity.
That is why I said Utopian Dreams. I agree with your statement.
Quote: Quote: My dream utopia is a place where two opposing viewpoints constantly vie for power but neither one ever overcomes.
An example would be
optimism vs. pessimism
greed vs. modesty
reason vs. unreason
If that's your dream of a utopian society, you're already living in one.
No not really. I believe in most places one idea destroys or takes the place of another. But I suppose if you believe greed and modesty hold equal weight in this country then that is your righ to believe that. I just dont agree. |
