I would hide and call the police, but if he got too close I would shoot him.

Haha good retort to my rather silly poll!

Anyway I would see if the man was my older brother, drunk again, with another one of his practical jokes!

If so --- BANG BANG BANG! Two to the chest, one to the head!!

Nope. I live alone (most of the time; right now I'm with my parents ... who have their own guns and would be hiding while my dogs tore the killer's throat out. :-D)

Alright. A man with a knife bursts through your door and says he's going to kill you. He is physically stronger than you.

Not a lot I can do except to make a sharp exit or to try to protect myself as much as I can from the blade. I don't have a habit to carry a knife at home so to strike back is not an option.

One would have to think what one had done for someone to burst through your door and says he's going to kill you with a knife, however it could have been worst, the aggressor could have been physically weaker than me but armed with a gun if I lived somewhere else, there a sharp exit or trying to protect myself would have not worked.

Do you carry a loaded gun at home Demonic Spoon just in case someone bursts through your door and says he's going to kill you with a gun?

The one living in fear would be the one carrying a loaded gun at home at all times just in case someone bursts through your door and says he's going to kill you with a gun.

I have no fear, my front door is even not locked at night.

That just means you live in an area with a relatively low crime rate. That's a perfectly good method of self-defense: being physically far away from criminals. But that's no reason to deprive those who live in high-crime areas from other methods of self-defense.

I had burglars visiting my home before, criminals will travel but ours don't have guns.

If there were much evidence on whether consumers who buy guns for protection against crime get their money's worth, we would all have one.

There are many ways to protect oneself Logician, having a gun at home is not one of them.

What do you mean Luke? Of course having a gun at one's home is a way to protect oneself. Only an fool who lives in a fantasy world of happy people would think that guns offer no protection against a violent attack.

BTW: Your signature is grammatically incorrect. It should read "How CAN guns save lives" not "how GUNS can saves lives". So change it please.
