What happened to the discussion of Buddhism? 1969? Are you kidding me? I was prepared to discuss it, and then I saw that there have been no new posts for years. Come on people, lets do this.

and why?

it's a long term thing, but in the year 600 Buddhism stretched from the Tigris river to Japan....it was the major religion of India, China, Indoneisa and the Central Asian empires.

Since then Hinduism has re-estabilished itself in India, Islam took it's place in Central Asia and Indoneisa and China gutted it after the revolution.

Christianity has replaced it in Korea as the dominant religion:

It's becoming less and less influencial in Japan:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Japan

It's growing in the West, but as this forum illustrates many of those in West who claim to be Buddhist know little of the actual faith.

look this is an observation not a critisim of Buddhism, which I think is great philosophy with a lot to offer......but as an actual living faith, I give it another 200-300 years, although I believe the philosophy will stay with us for thousands of years to come.

Someone who had been banned beforehand. He created a forum section entitled 'see what happens when you ban me' or something like that. Can't remember the name though.

I suppose we should understand that our posts were impermanent anyway; just as we are. 8:)

yeesh........big and good question.

In a huge cosmic nutshell I guess it would be the pratical application of Buddhist ethics; compassion, vegitarianism, meditation as a means of achieving well-being......without Buddhist cosmolgical views.

I know many people who already hold that mind-set.

Why'd he take out the Buddhist forum? It seems like of all the forums this is the least offensive/argumentative/whatever.

Vegetarianism was actually a concept added later. It should be a dead give away, because Buddha died from eating tainted pork.
