Now just a leech on Americas ass.
Although it may indeed appear this way, the reality is that Britain tries to use the US to implement it's own foreign policy...
that's my whole point, if the UK had a voice it would not feel the need to "use" America.
But it doesn't anylonger. WWII put pay to the end of the British as the global force in politics and America took its place.
I think people are really underrating how much influence Britain has in the world. After America we are the most powerful country on earth militarily and economically a very powerful on our own not including the fact Britain is a huge part of the EU the worlds largest economy (it negotiates as one which is what I mean). Britain is a permanent member at the security council, has huge power within the EU, is head of the commonwealth, gives large amounts of aid which incurs huge influence and as a whole probably has better relations with all country's than any other country. Britain doesn't need to cling to America and doesn't even really do it that much. I just so happens most things are mutually beneficial.
People are looking at how Britain couldn't stop Israel but America could and saying how much more influence America has. Well what a surprise if we paid for a quarter of there military budget then they'd do what we told them as well. |

Not really. We're 5th in ecconomy:
Rank Country / Corporation GDP / sales ($mil)
1 United States 8,708,870.00
2 Japan 4,395,083.00
3 Germany 2,081,202.00
4 France 1,410,262.00
5 United Kingdom 1,373,612.00
http://www.corporations.org/system/top100.html
Military is somewhat more difficult to define but I'm sure we're not the 2nd in the world. I do agree however that Britain is still a major world player but one has to ask why/how? (Without America) |

Its impossible to say which military is the "best" or the second best, it depends completley on the circumstances. Look at vietnam, the "best" army in the world lost to a ridiculousley ill equiped and poorly trained peasant force. For its size though, the British military is one of the better ones out there, and the training is second to none, although the same cannot be said for its equipment and size. |

That quote had a bit on the end talking about ecconomic power. I didn't mean it Britain is the second largest. It was poorly worded which was my fault.

Britain can invade and defeat any other nation on earth apart from the other superpower France and the hyperpower America. The reason I rank the Britain as the second best is that the technologically all of the British equipment is either first, second or third best in the world. The training is joint best in the world. Britain has the second largest navy and is equally as advanced. British military bases are all over the world which means that wars can be fought anywhere on the globe. Only America and France can also boast all of these things.
Other nations have advanced forces that could fight against us and possibly win ie Israel and Germany. However they both use conscription which makes there troops far inferior in terms of training and they cant project there power past there borders. |

It dose depend on situation. However there are very few situations where the British armed forces would loose with proper tactics. Only war with France or America would Britain not be able to win with proper tactics. In Vietnam America should have won easily however did not due to bad tactics. What we can say is what nation has the best chance of winning any war thinking of every situation and at this Britain comes out second. |

From that "Chavscum" website.
Do you think being classified as a peasant underclass has anything to do with these kid's behavior?
I know if someone tried to treat me like a peasant I would kill them without blinking an eye. So would any other American. In fact, that attitude is why the USA is no longer part of the UK. |

What a strange thing to say regarding a story about the muzzling of police dogs.
And anyway, how many would that be, Cap'n? Do you have numbers for Brits who are converting? Bet you don't. And as for the total number of Muslims - it's 2.5% of the UK population; I understand Muslims even make up 1% of the US population. |

'Chavs' are the equivilent of the american redneck or hick, and are treated with a similar reverence and respect by the media and popular culture.
I suspect you know all about how well respected 'hicks' are in american society.....
Other than that, is it your intention simply to wind us up? |

| Typical British cynicism. Although, I will say that the West as a whole is in decline as it is engaged in infighting and the rise of China and India will seriously challenge the West as a whole in the near future. I doubt that the West is really ready for the impact just yet. |

The problem with class is the middle part. The working class and the upper class get on perfectly well, they are both as mad as hatters and don't give a tuppence about what people think of them. It's the upwordly mobile nouve riche in the middle who bugger the whole thing up. |

I think Iraq has shown us that invading a country is one thing.
Trying to occupy it, and keep the peace is another. |

| China would be a logistical nightmare, maybe when our new aircraft carriers and type 45 Destroyers are operational it would be easyer. |
