I tried to browse the forums earlier and it kept asking for my name and password in a pop-up box (which was weird as I have it set to automatically log me in so I don't have to remember my password). I tried to enter using the login box, but it was a nogo. I changed my password since I used it to try and enter the site. GG, getting the site back up though. This is my fav web forum, and I'd hate to see it down any longer than it has to be.

I thought that the site had had a little spruce up and that everyone was having to reinput their password. I tried every combination I could think of and none would work. (Took me two goes this morning  )

One thing that would concern me slightly is that would the hacker have knowledge about what was being put into the password area of that box? Is it possible he could have been harvesting potential passwords for wherever your user name was in use?
No, that prompt you got was from us. We enable HTACCESS so only Admins were allowed on the site until the site was secure.

It's even better that he didn't gain access to MySQL or Fedora.

But Linux is untouchable.

Fedora is an iron wall of security in the server world.

And no one can tell me different.

Linux is definitely "touchable" and gets hacked all the time, hence the security patches that come out all the time. I think it is a lot better than Windows, though. Although, in terms of security, I think OpenBSD is way ahead of the curve.

Yeah, but you can only get so far once inside, unless you crack the root. Also, as far as viruses and such it can't rapidly multiply or spread in a Linux environment.

Ugh, I tried a copy and thought it was terrible.

That guy must have been picking at the site all day. I remember it being really slow and crappy as early as like 1 or 2pm, and login issues, unless someone was doing maintenance. It wasn't until around midnight that the sh!t hit the fan, by 2am it was totally FUBAR, by morning it was 404.

I thought David might have been in the sauce until TGND and Nico had to make new accounts.

and then I got this........................

It's "Fuxxorz"

I had planned to go hiking, but things of this nature just happen when playing WoW.

There is a reason it's the #1 game for causing divorces.

A chance to express my relief as well as gratitude for what you guys did and continue to do every day :-D
