Saudis Condemn Hamas and Hizbullah
Quote: Jeddah, July 13, SPA-An official source said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has believed and still believes in the right of people under occupation to fight this occupation in all its forms and to reject its illegal measures aiming at erasing identity and changing realties on the ground.
On this basis, the Kingdom has always been standing with all its capabilities with the legitimate Palestinian resistance which aims at resisting military occupation and avoiding harming the innocent. On the same basis, the Kingdom stood firmly with the resistance in Lebanon until Israeli occupation of Lebanon ended.
Viewing with deep concern the bloody, painful events currently taking place in Palestine and Lebanon, the Kingdom would like to clearly announce that a difference should be drawn between legitimate resistance and rash adventures carried out by elements inside the state and those behind them without consultation with the legitimate authority in their state and without consultation or coordination with Arab countries, thus creating a gravely dangerous situation exposing all Arab countries and its achievements to destruction with those countries having no say.
The Kingdom views that it is time that these elements alone bear the full responsibility of these irresponsible acts and should alone shoulder the burden of ending the crisis they have created.
Arab world fed up with Hizbullah
Quote: With the exception of the Palestinians, the Arab world appears to be united in blaming Iran and Syria for the fighting in Lebanon. Until last week, Arab political analysts and government officials were reluctant to criticize Hizbullah in public. But now that Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah and his top aides are in hiding, an anti-Hizbullah coalition is emerging not only in Lebanon, but in several other Arab countries as well. ...[Click for more] |

| I really doubt it, but I hope it will affect Hezbollah in some way. |

Saudi Arabia? Condemnation from that regime, it's like Pol Pot calling Stalin a murderer. Has for there lovely Saudi Wahhabism? It makes Hizbollahs version of Islam seem decadent. Saudi Arabia does'nt even understand the word democracy. Hizbollah's more progressive in womens rights than they are.
The Arab world is a mess. What Israel just done in Lebanon bought home that reality. |

Agreed. I am amused by the use of the term "Arab world" in the opening post. More likely, "filthy Arab regimes", that are THE MOST IMPORTANT cause of the situation the region is in currently, are turning against Hezbollah. |

Since the US corporate media never interviews Arabs or even Arab Americans on US ME policy, it is difficult to know what the Arab world is thinking without going to an outside source like the BBC.

Which Saudis would oppose Hezbollah in favor of Israel and the USA? Would it be the vast majority of Saudis or would it be the spoiled, corrupt, and dictatorial royal class?

| My impression is that Hezbollah are pretty popular, no doubt in part due to the fact that they're the only group who have really beaten Israel at something. |

Ehh? When? Oh no your not one of the people who thinks Hezbollah while magically inflicting minor casualties over the course of their decade long effort managed to convince us to compromise our own security and withdraw... Are you? |

| Arab street has made Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordanian Sunni dictators turn around in their tracks. All have publicly denounced Israel. But this won't help these dictators in the long run. They will eventually lose power and, unfortunately, because of our stupidity, the people will insist on anti-western leaders. |

PERCEPTION of defeat is sometimes more important than a defeat itself. Hezbollah has achieved in creating this perception that they are the only entity to stand up against Israeli "agression". But then again, we all know how Nassir and his thugs did the same and we all know where that led the Arab people.
Arab people are living in an illusion and will continue to do so for as long as they are ruled by filthy corrupt bastards who feed them hatred just to stay in power. |

Arab liberals are either in exile or sitting in jail often thanks to the blind support of the Americans to their filthy murderous regimes. |

as an arab i can tell you that before this war everybody hated hizbuallah in the arab world, maybe they still do but in this war many are supporting hizbuallah with the hatred.
it is like a social proverb we have in arabic
"i will join hands with my brother to be against our cousin, and i join hands with my cousin to be against the strangers"
which could be applied politically like this
i and brother: sunni and sunni
cousin: shiite or vice vera
the stranger: the jews in the first place, then anybody attacks us. |

If the Arab portion of the world supports Hezbollah they are going to end up like southern Lebanon.
That's all there is to it. |

CNN does, interviewed some of the Hezbollah leadership.

| Of course they are. Iran is their biggest enemy. Well, at least to the Arabian Gulf Countries, which are Saudi Arabia, My country the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait. Iran already made an offensive on the UAE, taking over 3 of its islands. The UAE is looking for peaceful means to take them back. These countries are american allies and have been anti-iranian, and of course, ani-hizbulla all along. Iran does not only want to destroy Israel, but it wants to take over much of the Arabian Gulf as well. |

I am.
Are you telling us that Israeli escape from Lebanon in 2000 was not a defeat that compromised Israel's security?
Hizbollah absolutely did win that one. Though, to be honest, it did not win so much as Israel leader chose to lose.
The consequences of that decision are more dead Israeli civilians in last two weeks than in the entire 18 years when Israel was in South Lebanon, a third of Israel is in bomb shelters or displaced, Israeli tourism industry is been ruined for the summer, and the paralysis of northern Israel going to cost your economy billions of shekels by the time this is over.
