NEWS FLASH
MISSING ISRAELI SOLDIERS HELD AT THE IRANIAN EMBASSY IN BEIRUT

Delicate Intelligence information coming out of Hezbollah indicated that the 2 missing captives of the Israeli Army Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev have been smuggled outside Southern Lebanon to the capital.

They are secretly being held at the Embassy of Iran in Beirut, under direct Iranian security guards supervision.

I suppose this is an effort to goad Israel to violate Iranian territory which would give them cover to retaliate against Israel.

Israel will never do that - attack Iran territory. But they sure may do everything possible so that the soldiers will stay there.

I disagree. If this is true (and I doubt it since I saw no other source confirming this), I don't think the fact the area is in the embassy will stop the Israeli government from doing anything it would have done otherwise. At least, I hope it will not stop it.

Well, the problem is, that all Israel can do at the moment is bomb the place, so I believe it won't do. Unless Israeli gov't will have the guts to send Sayeret Matkal there to extract the hostages.

Says it all, why post something you yourself dont believe? What was the point of that post? Propaganda value?
The way you wrote and laid out your post, it was like you was talking for yourself.
O.k i'll apologize and I'll retract the salt statement and banish you to no salt for a week. As for frosty, hey let him bask in the sun and enjoy himself. all that cold is no good for the joints, the sun will do him good.

LOL. I suspect if Israel knew where those soldiers were, they'd already have gotten them. However, you must admit the Iranian embassy would be the perfect place to plop them. If Israel broke into the embassy to free them, they would have violated sovereign Iranian soil, and committed an official act of war against Iran. Then Iran could openly add their missles into Tel Aviv to the mix, and Israel could openly take out those pesky nuclear facilities that annoy them so. Of course the rest of the world would be most unhappy, but neither Iran nor Israel have ever seemed terribly concerned about that anyway. :)

Plato,

I posted a version of what might have happened.

Di,

I think that if Israelis would know soldiers are inside Lebanon, they would really have serious problem getting them. Imagine middle of Beirut. Such operation would be really difficult and extremely dangerous.

Do any of us really think this is true? If the IDF really beleived this we would have stormed the place by now or begun a ground movement, or at least some other type fo operation than pressing ahead as normal.

Though if it is true I have no doubt that the IDF will storm the place and free the soldiers. Though it seems to contradict with reason if this were already true and confirmed.

It certainly would. However, if anyone could do it, I'd put my money on Israeli elite squads. I tend to agree with superskippy, that if Israel knew where the soldiers were, even if they were in Iran's embassy, they would storm the place to get them out and damn the consequence. Not that I'd blame them... but as a citizen of this planet I cringe to think of what those consequences might be.
