Ever since I was very young I have always pondered this. When the sunday school teacher said there will be no hunger in Heaven, did that mean that we will be spiritual beings and therefore not need food, or did it mean that God will provide us with plenty of food? You decide.

Since we won't be "earthly beings", Entropy won't exist, therefore there will be no need for our body to get energy from external sources, therefore there will be no hunger. That, however, does not mean that the pleasure derived from certain foods will be absent.

I think it will be more of a "We can eat if we choose to, but we won't be in pain if we don't".

I dunno about that. Christ is the external source and we will always need Him as our "bread" of life.

This is basically what Holy Communion is about.

I agree, however considering that we will be quite literally in His presence for eternity, I'm not sure that the physical act of digestion, etc. will be required.

no offense but is a sunday school teacher really qualified to tell you what will and will not be in heaven?

Nobody really is, as they have not been there. The idea of no hunger in heaven was taken from the bible, not made up by the teacher. And if the teacher somehow definitively knew then there would be no need to ask anyone else who was the recipient of a higher education.

My thoughts exactly. I just don't know how you could call it heaven without a nice ice cream sunday every once in a while! 8:)

But there *is* going to be food and drink, right?

My, isn't that a nice, Puritanical way of looking at the world..

All these things are manifestations of the material, John (food, drink, sex, etc). They are, in so many words, illusions which sustain the temporal body. I'd be surprised if that which is eternal is capable of partaking in such limitations as food, drink, lust, etc..

How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?

Do angels truly have wings?

Jesus said that we would eat and drink with Him in the Kingdom....and shared a meal with people after He rose from the dead in His spiritual body. So it seems to me that there will be eating and drinking.....

But you are prolly right in regards to people in Hell.

Will there be toilets in Heaven? After all, what goes in, must come out... :-D

Also, where does Jesus say that people will eat and drink w/ him in Heaven? I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm just genuinely wondering..

The only reason something has to come out is because our bodies can't digest it all. Who knows what the glorified body will be capable of.

Matthew 26
26 While they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take, eat; this is My body."

27 And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you;

28 for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.

29 "But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father's kingdom."
