Today human beings have messed up the Truth that was known from the early days of Adam and Eve. Large theocratic edifices with elaborate clergies, theologies and ecclesiastical structures have been created. In all this, the basic truth has been masked, damaged and hidden.
In the beginning a primitive, shamanistic henothestic monotheism based on the Sky god that the people viewed as a Father/Mother figure was worshiped. Lesser spirits, which some might call angels, did not receive the praise and honor of the Sky god they invoked in ceremony, worship and praise. They were respected and revered as more powerful beings then humankind, but the awe and reverence that was later paid to them was only given to the Sky god, considered Creator of all life.
Later, humankind began giving praise to these less powerful spirits, as some went renegade from the Creator. They became identified as gods, but were really the Archons spoken of by the Gnostics. The angels ( or if you prefer ?gods?, lesser spirits) sided with the Creator , whereas the Archons sided with their master, the Demiurge, or Saklas.
This started a war that continues today. The Archons have deceived many by impersonating the true God, and by encouraging dissent, war among us, persecution, fanaticism and hatred.
This war lead to us falling into matter, to the warping of the original pure religion practiced by Adam and Eve. Both Judaism, Christianity and Islam are perversions of that basic henotheistic monotheism practiced by all humans at that time. Polytheism was an even further distortion of the Unity that God is. Judaism elevated a tribal god of war to the position of Supreme Diety. Christianity was perverted to make ritualism the key to salvation. Islam denied any grace that is necessary for salvation.
Yet, in a strange way they all contain a piece of that original henotheistic monotheistic religion practiced by Adam and Eve.

The Polytheist were right to recognize that there are many sides to Diety. They understood the many facets of God, a diamond with innumerable facets. Yet, they errored in giving honor and sacrafice to these lesser aspects and by ignoring the truth of the Oneness beyond Multiplicity that later pagans discovered in the concept of the mystical One.

The Jews were right in demanding righteousness and good deeds, and social responsibility. Yet, their tribal deity was vicious, cruel and genocidal.

Christianity was right in showing the need for man to turn to the Deity for grace, and mercy. Yet it was perverted by the Protestants into a religion of ritualism, that results in people ..?drawing near with their mouths, but their hearts are far away?

Islam was correct in announcing that God is One and the need to submit in all things to the will of God and to depend on the Deity's mercy. And yet it forgot grace.

Properly restored, the religion of Adam and Eve corrects those imbalances by announcing the Oneness of god, his mercy, grace and the dynamic tension between works and grace. No priesthood is needed nor elaborate churches, mosques or synagogues are required. Just the desire to follow the original way as outline in Genesis.
