In a previous conversation, a forum member suggested :"I don't condemn any homosexual or transgendered, a sin is a sin, and yes some are worse but I truly don't believe Jesus didn't die for them as well."
So I propose the question:
Are there sins that are worse or better than other sins?
Is it worse to lie than to kill?
To steal a loaf of bread to feed your family, is that a sin?
To steal a watch because you like the 'bling', is that a sin?

Well, there must be at least some form of hierarchy, even if it's a two step hierarchy, since one sin is not forgivable but the rest are:

Matthew 12:31; Hebrews 10:26.

So let's break it down:
The unforgivable sin. Since this one is 'unforgivable' (is another debate entirely) let's stay away from that one in this thread. I believe there is another thread speaking to this specifically - discussions there please.
The forgivable sins. Sins would indicate there are multiple ones.
Out of the multiple sins, are there some worse than others?
Let me list a couple:
Murder
False witness
Stealing

basically there are the vinial sins and the moratl sins. All sins are forgivable except suicide in most cases, in some cases, suicide might be forgiven as an extremely seriois vineal sin and not a mortal one. but we cxannot know.

Your thoughts:

I think that your answers are what matters. What do you think--is stealing bread to feed your family the same to you as stealing for the bling or a thrill?

If you were a pilot whose plane was crashing and your choice was between straight into an elementary school or into the trees and certain death, would that be same kind of suicide as as 20-year old kid who's drunk and having a pity-party and who swallows a gun?

Let me list a couple:

Well, I know there are ones that are harder to repent from, which is probably mostly individual. Since the end result of all sin is being seperated from God, some sins, which are harder to repent from, would be worse, because relapse would be more common, and therefore time seperated from God would be worse.

That's just my own musings, though. It's not doctrine.

They say suicide, idolotry, false witness and murder are the worst sins to commit. Suicide being the only unforgiveable sin.

I would consider the degree of the sin dependent on one's ability, or inability, to make restitution for that sin.

If one steals his neighbor's car, he can also return it, or replace it with another, if he wrecks it.

If he rapes his neighbor's daughter, he cannot replace or repair either the physical or emotional damage he caused her.

If he murders his neighbor, he cannot return his life again to him, cannot replace his life, and can make no repair.

The best he could do, would be to forfeit his own life, for the one he took without cause or right.

Ah. I have never heard any sin to be unforgivable except blasphemy, which no one could ever define. I don't think any Christian should rank a sin as better or worse than another, unless they are referring to human standards of course. However, that is one reason why I started the thread: to see other's opinions.

What I do like is that fact you can't (or won't) answer the question posed to you. As far as the link, you will need to explain that as, yet again, you aren't making any sense. Your verbose dialog and lack of supporting documentation or ideas isn't going to have me in the hunt for it. Either tell me what you are referring to, or please move on as it is boring.

However, that is one reason why I started the thread: to see other's opinions.

But suicide is always said to be the unpardonable sin since it cannot be reversed and the most serious. How can blasphemy be a unforgiveable sin?
