I hope you don't plan on hurting me just because my point of view is different than yours :? . And if the idea of reinstituting slavery was introduced to the Senate and/or House, it would be shot down like a hunter shoots a goose out of the sky.

None of those say slavery is holy and righteous, but rather tell people how to make the best of a bad situation.

The verses themselves are not sick or unholy or anything, the fact he is reading them out of context is the problem.

I think this is an attempt to slander Christianity?

Those are all taken out of context.

I won't take the time to look up the exact text yet, as I don't see the need to, however;

From the looks of the text, the sets of laws are setting down how slaves and their owners are to be treated - as this was already a large part of society and not something that would simply 'go away'.

The first one is regarding the treatment of a slave who has been promissed to mariage and is still owned (unless she has been ransomed - put up for a bid - or freed).

The second is stating that slaves of priests are expected to be given food by the priest.

The third says NOT to allow someone who is poor who sells himself to you to work as a slave - meaning you would treat them as an employee or co-worker.

The fourth is.... I don't know why that is included in arguements for slavery....

The fifth and sixth are saying that the Isrealites are allowed to have slaves and not to allow their countrymen into slavery (again).

I have no idea what the others are in refference to or why they are here....

What in the world does Timothy 5:1 have to do with slavery?

The next one is a commandment to slaves not to forsake the values of their religion.

..... so I have no idea where in the world you come up with how God commands Slavery....

Looks to me like you did some search in a bible search engine with every result of 'slave'.

You could probably justify/condemn just about anything with selective quotes from the bible.......
